Can't save files to disk

Hooray- Ive fixed it. I am so stupid- I had to select enable burn cd on the drive. I thought it was automatic. So thanks guys for all your help. Problem now though is I am trying to back up a dvd and half way through the pc shuts down. Thought it may be overheating, but how can it be when it doesn't shut down during any other application?0
