Stopping Interest if Receiving Tax Credits

I heard that you can stop the interest being added to your credit card debt if you are in receipt of tax credits. I am in this situation and the interest I owe on my cards is too much for me to pay off every month and I have no chance of making a dent in the money I owe.
Please can someone advise me if this is true?
