I am on a Fixed tariff to end Nov 2016. I checked their "Am I on the cheapest tariff?"
It suggested a change to their Cancer Charity fix to Jan 18 and a saving of £108, wow, go for it?
I then searched for my current tariff and the new one. My current tariff had a smaller standing charge, smaller day/night tariff and cheaper gas. How could I still save £108?
The answer was in the small print. If I remained on my current tariff to Nov 16 and then reverted to their standard variable for the following 14 months I could expect to pay £108 more.
Only if I opted to pay more now might I save in the future.
As a new fixed price deal will be along in 5 minutes I will wait.

This is fairly normal practice* by companies/comparison websites for those on a fixed tariff that expires within 12 months.
