Why buy a transporter? Just but a single car trailer and clamp it so it cant be nicked, park the car on it
You've never tried loading a car onto a trailer that isn't attached to a tow car, have you?

A wheelclamp won't stop a car trailer from being nicked, either. They're amongst the biggest scrote-magnets going.

Well it means he'll never be able to move it at all with the car on, and since it'll !!!! off every neighbour it'll be getting reported to VOSA on a near daily basis.
Plus, if he's loading the car and is stopped, how does he prove he isn't going to be driving it?

So if it's over 3500kg he may not be able to move it empty (or insure it), and if it's under 3500kg he can't move it with the car on, and potentially has to field a lot of queries. I'm not sure on the VOSA requirements on use are.

Plus if it's much overloaded (and at £400 we're talking about a proper banger) then he risks expensive axle damage too.

Then there's the fact it'll be a total pain to have to set up the ramps to move the car every time; it's probably quicker to just park further away.

Even if never moving it is technically legal, it's still a bad idea, no?

It'd make sense as a way of storing a SORN car on the road though, but it's crazy to try and do it with a daily driver.

I never said it was a good idea, I just corrected the fact for it to be an offence when overweight he must be caught driving it.

VOSA no longer exist, but what would you suggest their corners would be? If it's taxed and insured, not breaking any bye laws, it doesn't need an operators licence being under 3500kg.

He doesn't need to prove anything, they'd need to prove he is driving it in excess of the manufactures plated weight and not on his way to a weighbridge.

Remember too that you will almost certainly need to leave the parking lights on during the hours of darkness, so will need to keep the battery charged

You can only park without lights if the vehicles laden weight is less than 2500kg - which you may be OK with ... BUT...

if I read you correctly, you are intending to park on a junction so that the road to the rear of the transporter will always be clear for you to load/unload

RVLR state that you may only park without lights if you are more than 10m (32ft) from a junction, so the chances are that someone will park behind you in those 10m
