Car transporter as on street parking

Options
New to forum so hope this post is ok, it is only semi-serious. Hypothetically, is there any reason why I couldn't buy a car transporter and use it to park my car in the street in a residential area? The parking is terrible where I live and I do not have a garage or a driveway. I have seen a single car transporter for sale for just under £400. Obviously, it would have road tax but would constantly be parked outside my house taking up about 2 spaces. It would be parked on the end of the row so I could just lower the ramp and drive on when needed, thus always having a parking space. Is this a genius idea or is there some reason why this is not allowed? Obviously taking into account that my neighbours would be a little disgruntled! Thanks in advance.

What happens when somebody parks in front of the transporter and you can't get the car off?
If you have an off roader you could drive over it
  • Parking is bad in your area so instead of taking up one space you want to use two?

What about when you have to move the transporter and cant get a space for it on your return from MOT etx.

2 lots of tax and insurance and what if someone nicks your space whilst you take the transporter for an MOT?

What is someone nicks the transporter with your car on it?

And as above is someone parks less than a car length behind where will you park? With the transporter taking upto 2 spaces itself?

You would become very unpopular with your neighbours, what if everyone did the same, the problem would become twice as bad. Set an example and buy a smart car.

I'd be taking the ramps ;)

    But no
Can't see you'd be breaking any rules though if you did it

Then it'll make hell of a bang when the unsecured vehicle topples over. Realistically though either op would remove the battery or the battery would be completely flat after not too long anyway

Providing it's not an LGV then there'd only be some local bye laws. Some estates are funny about large vans or commercial vehicles. Although this sounds like a terraced street.
  • Can't you pay for a dropped kerb for a couple hundred extra?

You can get a gravel driveway pretty cheap if you put in most of the labour yourself depending on if you've got grass there at the moment.

But at worst sticking a couple thousand into a proper drive way is well worth it, you'll save on insurance too and always have your parking spot. Assuming you've got space to get a drive that is.

Not 100% sure, but even if you've no front garden for a drive, you could just park in front of your dropped kurb I'm sure. (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong)

If you was my neighbour I'd be more inclined to find a way to p'ss you off should you choose to park one of those near my window. Then you'd still be out of a parking spot, and £400 lighter.

How exactly would an unsecured vehicle on a transporter 'topple over'?

I've never seen anyone park their vehicle balanced on its nose or tail on a transporter, but I'd be interested to.

Cars aren't naturally unstable, otherwise they'd be 'toppling over' every time they stopped. They're not motorcycles.
