Speed up your pharmacy counter. Yesterday I was told to come back in half an hour to collect a prescription.

Pyxis I got some of the green bags PN mentions in L@keland - tbh I hadn't realised you could get them anywhere else, let alone Poondland/similar, so that's good to know!

You put your veg or fruit in them (but make sure the veg/fruit is dry first), squeeze as much air out as possible, then seal the bag (I used that "twisty wire"). It will keep rather longer than in an ordinary plastic or paper bag. No idea what the green bags are made of!

    Oh thanks!
I sometimes get potatoes in my fortnightly veg box, and I don't eat them very often, so it's annoying when they start sprouting!

    I'll try those bags.

It's funny how online sites can vary so much in speed and efficiency.
Yesterday I went to buy some sheet music online from an American site I hadn't used before.
    It was dire.
Firstly, it kept jumping all over the place.

Then when I eventually went to pay, I noticed there wasn't a lock on the address bar, so I emailed them about whether they were a secure site or not. Eventually they replied to say that their pay-page address was https, which it was, but they didn't explain why there wasn't a lock symbol.

Anyway, I placed the order, but didn't get a confirmation email for hours.
I had ordered some e-print copies, and when I finally worked out where I print them, I found that there wasn't a print icon to use.
So I started emailing them about it.

No word of a lie, I had to explain 4 times, to the same person, what the problem was. She kept telling me what to do, and I kept telling her that there was no print icon.

Eventually, it transpired that you can't e-print from an iPad. It would have helped if that had been made clear at the point of purchase.

So I asked if my order could be converted to a hard copy sale. (I had also ordered some hard copies of another song for which there had been no e-print facility, and the shipping costs were enormous - $11+ dollars for 3 copies - as it is based on the value of the total order, even though some of the order was e-print....again, not made clear!)

Two emails from me later, I finally got a reply that they would credit me with the cost of the e-print stuff, and I would have to re-order it as hard copies. They did say they would refund the shipping costs too.

There were other problems too, which I shan't bore you with.

All this took, no word of a lie, all day!

I was frazzled. And I dare not re-order yet as I want to make sure my credit card is refunded, plus I want to see what happens with the other ordered copies.

Anyway, just now I ordered something else from another American sheet music site that I have used before, and it all took about 5 minutes, including getting the confirmatory email.

Guess who I won't be buying from in the future?

The real point of all this is, why can't they read your email properly and answer the questions you are actually asking?
I couldn't have set it out any plainer!
It was like talking to a robot on autopilot. :(
And I didn't use fortnight or pavement or lift or any other words that they might not understand. :(

I've been buying my green bags in America. Who knew I only had to go to Poundland?

    We use ours for bananas

Can you get the cream coloured bread ones too?

Green, cream, what next? Red bags for tomatoes? Mine seem to go mouldy really quickly.

Funnily enough, Poundland do brilliant styli for iPads. A pack of two for a pound. They last much longer than more expensive ones.

With my green bags, I remove the spuds from the shop plastic bag and put them into the green bag - I roll down the sides so the top's open and sling it in the base cabinet - I figure "they'll dry out OK like that" ...and a few days later when I open that cabinet again I'll uncurl the sides, give the top a bit of a twist, then fold the twist over and shove it down the side of the green bag, not "secured" or tightly ....

As for Poondland - it's hit and miss if any product found in there is ever stocked again, as they do buy warehouse clearances and over-orders.... but, the point is, keep an eye out at cheap/shabby markets and £/style shops for the bags.

Thanks PN, I shall do that.

I haven't come across the cream bags for bread. I have a L@keland "bread bag", but it's basically a strong plastic bag with a fabric cover.

Pyxis What a pain about the music - I trust your credit card has been refunded by now!

I don't know. I haven't got online access to it, and I thought that I should leave it a few days before checking by phone. What do you think?

I don't know either, but I bet there's someone on here who does and will be along presently :) (not thinking of any one poster in particular, I don't mean).

I would think that it would show as a pending transaction within hours. Certainly I can login to online credit card accounts and see the information the next day, so I would expect the call centre can do the same.
