I doubt they'd allow her into a posh London hotel wearing a balaclava! :rotfl:

Could get away with it - provided she's wearing a tie :rotfl:

Thanks all! The weather and, more surprisingly, the traffic was fine :) Bit cold, though.

    Interview was a bit 50/50.

My preparation was in the wrong areas. They were testing me on Microsoft Office stuff I haven't done for a few years, when I was sure it would be a lot more legal based... I'll do you a TUPE transfer but I might have to look up how it is you do mail merges again... Hmm.

So we'll see. I thought I built up quite a good rapport with the interviewer, which is important.

I'll jump at the chance to do it if I'm offered the job, but there are enough niggles that I won't be too gutted if I'm rejected. Quite a nice situation to be in really.

The p155er in life is if/when you NEED that job and don't HAVE £60 for two interviews... and don't get it. If one were on the dole, that £60 to go to two interviews could wipe out 2-3 months of "spare/living/interview money".

Where I work they pay travel expenses for graduate interview candidates, not sure about more experienced positions.
    I think....

I'm stuck in the netherworld between the two tbh!

I don't mind shelling out for a good opportunity. If she gives me useful feedback it'll be worthwhile.

Most companies don't pay most candidates for any interview expenses.

I've never, ever, had a bean.

It's odd to test skills that can be learned in a few minutes or hours. That may say a lot about the person conducting the interview. Maybe, he or she finds the IT stuff hard?

Surely, if you have forgotten how to do a mail merge in real life, you'll look it up on the www. That'll add ten minutes to the job. Then you'll just do it.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Indeed. Many things involve consulting google these days. I'm sure we don't even retain a lot of stuff that we used to, simply because we have the info in the big database in our pockets.
