His picture should be next to 'smarmy' in the dictionary.
In the past he said that in 1988 he'd been walking by a canal and a chap pulled a knife on him - and he shoved him in the canal .... and he's no idea what happened to him, so he could've 'murdered' a man that night by that action.
I guess the police have got their big fat book of "canal deaths" out and gone through and found one ....
I'd imagine it's a procedural matter. They have a canal death, they have a man who might've done that, they are probably duty bound to investigate it. So they'll arrest him and then try to work out if it was him that caused a death. Then they'll investigate whether he was to be held "responsible" for murder, or manslaughter, or something else .... and, I bet, the end result will be: "He did die, looks like he's the man you shoved. Self defence. No case to answer"
Procedure... but it's a shocking expense for something that could be "resolved" without an expensive and full court case I'd have thought.0 -
Dianne, hoping for the best for your DD.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I mean, If I got attacked on a canal path and managed to survive by pushing the assailant into the canal, I'd be running screaming to the nearest policeman.
Now, I'm afraid this is probably going to be a massive POSH ALERT, so if I were you, Pastures, I'd cover my eyes and stick my fingers in my ears and go
Well!, I've just been trying some Bucks Fizz flavoured crisps!
I just happened to see them and was intrigued, so,thought I'd try them.
I'm still trying to decide on the verdict.
They have a slight 'fizz' and are a bit orangey. The texture is nice, as they've been cooked with the skins on.
The combination of salt and orange is a bit odd, but with the right food, might be nice.
Looking at the ingredients............hahahahahahahahahah! This is sooooo funny.....
All the usual, plus dried orange juice, fair enough, but then:
Dried Chardonnay wine (!!)
and.....
Dried Champagne!!!!
Dried Champagne! That is hilarious!
Should I  or should I :rotfl: ?

My mum skimmed it off and then served it up for pouring over fruit etc as a cheap alternative to cream.Oh....and people who put apostrophes in plurals. They're the worst of the lot!
Hang 'em all!

This one actually has that erroneous plural apostrophe in it.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Yes, it was good as a dollop of cream!

After I posted that I found another one that actually has the apostrophe thing in it and went back and edited my post to have that one instead. (NP unfamiliar with the Mikado may nor realise that this song is almost never sung with its original words, but every time the show's put on the actor singing this piece makes up new words that are more up to date or more locally relevant etc. It makes for endless variety.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Been to Scotland for the first time in my life! Didn't rain and wasn't that cold.At home we used to have "silver top" - I find if I buy "blue top" these days it's not got the same depth of texture that the old silver top had. Silver top used to have an inch or so of cream on top, that you then mixed in by shaking the bottle. You don't have that with blue top.
Blue top is homogenised version of silver top, so the cream stays mixed in with the milk rather than sitting on top. I always used to pour away the creamy stuff, leaving what was effectively skimmed milk behind.
Nowadays I drink lactofree skimmed milk, so no lactose and no fat. (There is a link, the fat in milk slows the passage of milk through the gut and aids the body's ability to digest the lactose in the milk. Without the fat, some people find the lactose harder to digest.)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
