We have the car at 16 and the 10 minutes spent getting from the station to the house yesterday were the most blissful part of my day.
Sleeping, even with the ceiling fan on, is difficult at the moment, for some reason when I went to sleep last night at 11 even with the fan on and the windows wide open the indoor thermometer was reading 29.9C even though the outside sensor was saying 24C, I think the room had picked up a lot of heat in the day and was being very slow to shed it - our bedroom has huge windows and faces just south of west so is a PM heat trap.
We do have a portable AC in the shed (not touched for about 3 or 4 years. It may be getting to the point where we have to get it out.
Curtains shut, windows open. My south facing rooms reached 26 degrees yesterday.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. michaels As silvercar said. Obviously if there's no one at home you may not want to leave the bedroom windows open, but definitely close the curtains
then open the windows as soon as someone's home.

I can't close the curtains in my bedroom as I don't have any! Curtain rail fell down some years ago and I couldn't put it back up again, after a while, I decided I quite liked not having curtains...the night sky is an amazing thing. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
It was warmer overnight in Herts yesterday than it was in Florida (Orlando) in the daytime. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I have never understood why some people set their air conditioning thermostat to a lower temperature than they would have their heater thermostat in cold weather.
18C is IMO uncomfortably cold at any time of year, regardless of whether it's achieved by inadequate heating in winter or aggressive air conditioning in summer.
Our comfortable temperature is 18-19 degrees - can't understand why anyone would want their house/car/whatever any hotter at any time...0 -

Just got home, needed to sort some tax things with my father, he's just said how cool it is inside the house (until he went upstairs where a window is open).
Honestly hadn't checked, but just moved his car to find this.
I did 40 degrees in Serbia a few years ago and Georgia often gets to high 30s in August, but that heat was lovely, this isn't.💙💛 💔0 -
The humidity here stops it being pleasantly warm and turns it into sauna stuff.
Chris, I've only just twigged what 'kin hot' is! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Quite right, too!
I'm tired...... been rehearsing all morning for an Am.dram thing tomorrow. Back for a rest, then more rehearsals this evening.
Have finally conceded defeat and rolled out my aircon machine. My bedroom, where I'm resting, is a lovely temperature now.
Comfortable temps can vary depending what you're doing. For house work I'd need a much lower ambient temp as doing anything physical makes me very hot very quickly, whereas just resting, I can tolerate higher temps, apart from my feet which are usually too cold.(I just lurve spiders!)

Indeed - I think it is actually cooler here than yesterday but it's more humid so it feels hotter.Chris, I've only just twigged what 'kin hot' is! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh dear, I thought you were quicker on the uptake than thatHave finally conceded defeat and rolled out my aircon machine.
I have a couple of those which I bought (and needed) for my Southampton flat. I brought them both with me but, so far, haven't needed them. I can get a much better throughdraught in the house than I could in the flat, which seems to make all the difference.0
