Maybe it's a hitherto unnoticed phenomenon of "families" .... people who are in families only wait 3.2 seconds because in their house they ARE standing in the hall, eyeing up the front door and thinking "if I just open that .... I can RUN FREEEEEEE!!!!" :)

    Such a beautiful vision! :D:D
Almost as beautiful as wot I am slobbing around in!

    Funny, that.

I was just thinking lately that people who knock at your door only seem to wait long enough for you to come as if you were already standing in the hall.
I've spent a lot of time in my bedroom the last few months, upstairs. To get to the front door, I have to get off the bed, put house shoes on, and carefully go down stairs, holding on, all due to this leg injury thing. I can't rush much in case I slip and add insult to injury.

Even so, I don't take ages and ages.
If I'm expecting a delivery, I put a sign on the door saying I am in, please be patient.

However, many's the time I get to the door and the person is off down the street. It's usually a cold caller. It happen yesterday evening.

If I knock at someone's door, I give it a little while, then I knock again. If I've been ringing a bell, and haven't heard it ring, then I try knocking, in case the bell doesn't work. Only then do I give up.

No-one seems to knock twice any more, except when I've got the delivery notice up.
(No puns about postmen only ringing twice!:D)

I've started to put a message in delivery instructions now saying that the occupant is disabled and WILL take time to get to the door so please be patient.

Seems to have worked so far.

I'm in a proud mum mood today, amazing how one oversized postcard brought me to tears and had me full up with pride, with a silly beaming smile on my face all morning.

James got his invitation for graduation in the post.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I would say that warrants getting an 'at! :D

Me in a hat? Shudders.....I tried all that years ago for weddings, I don't think I have the face or head that suits a hat.

Maybe a fascinator or whatever they call them.

    Congratulations!

Hat totally unnecessary, and may obscure the view of the people behind you. Summer dress seemed to be the choice by most at my kids' ceremonies.

Hearty congratulations to James for his success! :j  :j

And to his Mum for all the help and encouragement given over the years. :A :j :T :j :)

I don't think hats are mandatory, but I've worn them to graduations as I have to keep face out of the sun as much as poss. But not tall hat, and only a just wide enuff brim to keep sun off. With DD1 we had to stand by road to see the procession :):o go by, so needed the hat as it was a sunny day (yes, I know unusual!).

Still have and love that hat - bought it about 30 years ago in TJ Hughes, cost me £40 and OH went up the wall - "what d'you need a *hat* for?". Done me 2 graduations and an MA. :) Worn every year for last 20 years at caravan, now on lottie and in garden. One of the best £40 I spent! :rotfl:
