But I wouldn't fancy my chances against Apple lawyers.
Wow there! Are they reading? They should be taking down Tonymacx86 first I reckon, but they don't, because it would be terrible PR. Anyway:
he has asked me if I can convert a machine to mac , I have a nice budget to play with and can supply my parts if needed.
so a: its to get knowledge , and b: make a few bob .

No. This isn't going to work. It's hopeless for a work environment, and you couldn't build this computer and leave it. All you need is for a worker to click 'yes' to an update, and you have a non-starting computer. You'll be called out lots. He needs a Mac. Simple.

tonymac isn't profiteering from hackintosh. OP suggesting he build and sell hackintosh machines - there is a difference.

BUILD (singular) , actually the machine IS built , the correct wording would be "install alternate OS", and I did not say SELL , I said "using customers parts + some of my own

at no point did I say B2B either

so , using your words "there is a difference"

You seem to be an expert then, why bother asking for people's opinion?

At the risk of looking a bit dim (not the first time on here), couldn't you set it up as a VM on a Windows machine?

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

the opinions I wanted were not asking for legalities or acting as my company legal advisor , (for the record : no company) but help in installing this OS .

pappa golf - you're talking about installing this in a business premises, so that they can conduct a part of their business on it, so that an employee doesn't have to take work home. It's being done FOR PROFIT, so it's just one step up the 'not worth it' scale.
A cheap Core 2 Duo or above Mac is the easiest way.

Seconded! And don't be tempted to upgrade the OS without finding what software /printers the upgrade will switch off.:o

As an ex-IT bod, I know there are many ways to solve a problem, and listening to a clients suggestion usually leads you down wrong paths. The actual problem is that they're receiving graphics in some format they don't know or understand, but have a staff member who is able to convert them to something they do understand. The platform he does it on is irrelevant.

    Far better solutions are-
    1) only accept graphics in formats he can use - like every other printer and sign cutter out there, otherwise he's taking the risk on a conversion being accurate
    2) get the appropriate software for his PC. All the decent commercial packages will have versions for both. If people are sending graphics in .numbers spreadsheets, they're Idiots and see 1) above. If they're .ai files or similar, hey Adobe Illustrator.
    3) get compatible or importer software for PC or Linux and render out himself. For instance GIMP will tolerate a lot and can maintain colour spaces , and he can export as needed
    4) use an online converter like cloudconvert, test the results.

Those are 4 ways in decreasing preference of how to solve the actual problem without ever touching hardware drivers, etc.

Indeed, I have had Mac OS X running in VirtualBox on Windows. Bought a sealed Snow Leopard disk off Ebay. Worth a look. For some reason VMWare didn't like it though.
