She bought a secondhand car direct from the previous owner (not a dealer) at a generous discount, and every opportunity to inspect the vehicle and bring her own mechanic if in doubt. Caveat Emptor.

You can tell she's full of poo by quoting out of date statue and 'is traumatised'.

You must respond to the MCOL letter, to the court. Provide unemotional full detail in order, documenting the advert, discounts, making the vehicle available for test drive and inspection, and the buyers subsequent haranguing of you (dates and correspondence copies in both directions). State that it was sold in good faith as a private sale. Show the court that you're not being a !!!!, and are trying to cooperate, but the demands are completely unreasonable.

Bet you a quid the court will agree if everything on this thread is true. Don't fear the courts, it's not like on TV, it's small, fast, helpful, three people in a room, and this kind of dispute is exactly what they're for.

#1 Acknowledge the claim first, that you intend to defend it ... this gives you additional time (28 days?) to prepare your defence.

OK I see your ad - nothing of much note in there. Did you/her sign a contract of sale?
