Don't tar everyone with your brush, the brush you probably stole from someone else. ;) Just because MPs fiddled the hell out of their expenses or that banks fix the LIBOR doesn't mean that everyone else has to lie or cheat. It would be a sorry world if we all did. One of the nicest, and fairest places I have ever visited was Costa Rica because everyone kind of works together and it has a forward thinking government.

If only this country could be like that…
You're so judgmental Pixie. If you actually knew me I'd be the last person you'd imagine being a cheat or a liar. I do what is necessary. I tried to get a job for ages in an office and failed because I had a lack of experience. That's what I was told when I asked the employers why I didn't get hired or even an interview. You might have got lucky in life, I do not know, but the average person needs to bend the truth at times to get a favorable deal. That's just business at the end of the day and it’s not like I’m stealing off my friends or family is it? Yes, in an ideal world we'd all live happily ever after in a fairytale land and nobody would lie or cheat. This isn't an ideal world though, is it?

In my experience, the only people who never lie to get a favorable deal are homeless people, which is probably the reason they ended up on the street in the first place.
  • I'd love to see all of your car insurance applications to see if you "exaggerated" the amount of miles you travel in a year... we all do it so climb down off your high horse, seriously.

If you exaggerate the amount of miles you travel in a year when applying for car insurance, you would be charged more not less!
  • In fact, just the other day a lady left £5.00 in the self checkout at Tesco (of all places). I saw this and guess what I did? Well, you probably think that stole it but no, I chased her down and handed it to her. A few weeks ago I found an iPhone in my local pub toilet. You think I took it? No, I handed it in behind the bar. I only lie and cheat when I have to, to get by. Stealing an iPhone or £5.00 or anything would play on my conscience too much. Saying I had some experience in Australia to get my first job in finance was one of the best things I ever did. No regrets or ill feeling whatsoever.

Exactly... so you say you travel less miles perhaps?

I never denied saying that. By my comment I meant that her (Pixie) saying that didn't offend me at all. You do need to cheat and lie to get the most out of life. Never to friends or family but to the government and to get a job? Yes, definitely. They lie to you every single day after all. Or do you also think that the government is honest as they come? Expenses scandal anyone? Or the banks, they are honest aren't they? Oh, wait a second, no we had to bail them out of the mess they got themselves into by being deceitful. I try to be honest in life but I realised when I was 18 years old that it gets you nowhere. Like I've said above, it's not in my nature to lie, it's society that forces it upon you and forces you to lie. I don't believe that anyone on here has never bent the truth to get more out of lenders or employers or anyone. I'd love to see all of your car insurance applications to see if you "exaggerated" the amount of miles you travel in a year... we all do it so climb down off your high horse, seriously.

I have never lied to a lender, the taxman, an employer or an insurance company. Not everyone needs to be dishonest to succeed, not everyone has the same chip on their shoulder as you.

Shame you couldn't keep up the reasonable and balanced posting you managed a few days' back when replying to meer53. ("I apologise for making such assumptions but you made a lot about me too. Your son sounds amazing to be fair.")
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

You've told us that you lie and cheat. It's not something I have just made up. Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Thank you for your comment. You are lucky if you have never had to bend the truth to get a job or what you want. Congratulations on that.

I think I am being reasonable. In fact, I think I am the most reasonable person on this forum! At least I can admit to my flaws and that I have lied in the past to get favorable deals.

Then you invalidate your insurance when you do need to use it so it would be a pointless exercise to try and save yourself a few quid on the policy.

Sounds to me like you massage your conscience a lot to make up for

So, you are a liar and a cheater but only on your own terms. You know even some criminals have standards. A lot of them won't touch women or children, some won't harm anybody but they'll steal from under your nose with pleasure. "Oh, but Officer it was a victim-less crime. No-one got hurt."
Doesn't make it right though does it?
