It all probably comes easily to you though Pixie. Also, sometimes people enjoy to just vent a little. Why does that bother you so much? The boo hoo comment is what set the whole thing off to be honest. How'd you like it if you went to the doctors or anywhere seeking advice and they said, "boo hoo" to you? If you want some life advice here it is: if all you have to say is negative then don't say it at all. People will only dislike you for it.

I actually totally agree with what Pixie said.
Also, if we went to the Drs and they said 'boo-hoo' I'd be fuming because they are trained and paid to look after patients. If I went to a public forum asking for an opinion and someone said 'boo-hoo' I'd be annoyed but realise that there are people out there that don't agree with me and I'd move the heck on!!

Which is exactly what I intend to do! I don't associate with closed-minded, negative, pretentious people. I will have to have the last word though, just so you all know. ;)

Wow Benjamin you've really hurt my feelings there. Bye!

I'll pass on the life advice from a liar and a cheat.

Edit: Perhaps the "boo hoo" was me venting about people posting just to rant about something that has been answered many, many times before.

A liar and a cheat? Wow you are really trying to be offensive now.

I didn't realise that you were the forum police! Sorry for commenting on your board. Don't worry, in the future I'll refrain from posting. I will also tell all of my friends to ask your permission before posting on here. Happy now?

Just remember that you don't have to be a negative person. My advice to everyone here is the same as for Pixie, if all you're spouting is negativity then don't bother because nobody wants to hear it.
  • Just for you Pixie, so you can see the difference.

    Negative, useless advice/comment:

Stop throwing your toys out the pram. You didn't get the headline rate, boo hoo. A more pertinent question would have been asking how to use the search function on the forum because headline rates and credit scores have been explained numerous times before.

    Positive, helpful advice/comment:
One search is not a big deal, BUT the lenders will look at it in relation to the overall state of your finances.

I've no idea on Tesco's loan strategy, if they're very risk averse like Sainsburys for example then yes you might be better elsewhere.

I agree with others that you should release funds from your ISA to pay off your unsecured debt. That's a more sensible course of action.

    Hope that helps.

I told Tesco Bank the truth. The loan was to consolidate our credit card debts. Maybe if I'd have said the loan was for a new bathroom then they'd have approved it on the rate being offered? The fact I was offered 15.8% instead of the 3.4% offered to me on the price comparison website says to me that Tesco didn't want the business. That's what the world has come to has it? Where you are better off lying through your teeth to get what you want? Just another superficial idea to go along with this superficial society we live in. It's the same in the world of work. I see companies hiring absolute idiots because of what's written on their CV. Young, inexperienced people don't get a chance to prove themselves. I know because I was once one of them. I tried for over a year to get a job in accounts but was knocked back due to a lack of experience. I knew that I could pick up anything easily and just needed an opportunity. In the end I lied and said I gained experience whilst travelling in Australia. I put down a fake Australian telephone number as a reference hoping they wouldn't bother phoning it. Sure enough, within one week, I had a job offer on the table. I worked for that organisation for 7 years and am now a fully qualified junior accountant. Unfortunately we don't live in an honest world anymore. You need to lie and cheat your way through life and that is what I will teach my children to give them the best chance of success, despite it being against my very nature.

But if you used the savings to pay of the credit card, then the credit card would be clear and you can use that as your safety net. It'll work out cheaper doing it this way.

You wont have to borrow again, as you already have the credit available on the credit card.

And the more months that pass before needing this safety net, the less interest you pay and the more money you can save

I cannot think of a comeback to this. Touche Sir/Madam. Very valid point.

Seeing the wood for the trees comes to mind here...

I never denied saying that. By my comment I meant that her (Pixie) saying that didn't offend me at all. You do need to cheat and lie to get the most out of life. Never to friends or family but to the government and to get a job? Yes, definitely. They lie to you every single day after all. Or do you also think that the government is honest as they come? Expenses scandal anyone? Or the banks, they are honest aren't they? Oh, wait a second, no we had to bail them out of the mess they got themselves into by being deceitful. I try to be honest in life but I realised when I was 18 years old that it gets you nowhere. Like I've said above, it's not in my nature to lie, it's society that forces it upon you and forces you to lie. I don't believe that anyone on here has never bent the truth to get more out of lenders or employers or anyone. I'd love to see all of your car insurance applications to see if you "exaggerated" the amount of miles you travel in a year... we all do it so climb down off your high horse, seriously.
