You like Architecture, choose Riga, Latvia! I've been several times because I love the architecture there. I would recommend the Garden Hotel, you can walk from there if averagely able to so many beautiful buildings, though many roads are cobbled. It's a fabulous place to visit at any time of the year.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”
― Julian of Norwich

My wife is 60 at about the same time. She has dropped hints about Barbados but to be honest I'd prefer to go to jersey - such a fabulous island and can be nice even in March but it's her birthday and she has been good to me over the years ....0

I'm 60 next year too. Sons 30th is a month after my birthday ! I'm thinking New York or Dubai ? Europe would be cheaper i suppose but would have to take my 17 year old daughter too so have to think about her too. I'd love to go further afield, i've been to Australia and South Africa, i really fancy Cambodia !0

How about Madeira. I have been there twice, both in the off season and the weather was great. No beach resorts as such and there's lots of things to do and it is a very beautiful island.0

I am 60 this year too and we are going to Japan. 3 nights in Tokyo and then cruising round the Japanese islands.0

How's about cycling 1,000 miles through Spain?0

I know it might sound a bit off the wall but why not do like the Queen does and have 2 birthdays. Celebrate your "proper" birthday at home with family and friends then book a holiday and have an "official birthday" . For my next big 0 birthday I intend to have a mini celebration each month when I will either do something I have always wanted to do or give myself a treat.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

March in Norway?
Loads of Cunard cruises for Scandinavia,
but I think they start from June.
This is interesting:

Cuba? February and March are peak season. Prices have shot up after Barak Obama made it respectable for Americans. They have run out of beer, and have to import it.0 -

Not for me! But I'm pretty impressed.
I recently met an 84-year-old who still rides his fancy road bike.
He also lifted a bag which 59-yr-old me thought was too heavy, and broke into a trot when going to speak to a neighbour!
People like that are quite inspiring.0
