Hi
I only just noticed the TSB offer of £100 to open up a Classic Plus Account with them by 4pm today (8th Feb) bit late! I have added all my details but have only been registered for an account, not fully opened:
"We've reserved an account number and sort code for you, but your account isn't open just yet. There's just one more thing we need to get you started and that's proof of your ID.
This needs to be done within the next 21 days so you don't have to re-apply."
Since i live too far from the nearest TSB branch I wont be able to make it to one before 4 - am i still eligible for the £100 with only being reserved an account??
Any help much appreciated, i've read quite a few posts here but first time posting :j
Thanks
John

No you won't be as the account has to be opened (i.e. show a start date on their system) by the latest 8th Feb. You wouldn't even be eligible if you could get to a branch before 4pm today as the account takes 2 working days to open once you've been in with ID as they have to photocopy it, certify it and then post it off to their processing centre to get the account opened.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if the TSB offer returns in the not too distant future (it's been on and off for the best part of the last year).0 -
Thanks Ed-1!
Its what I thought but I still had hope! Yeah i think i'll take your advice and hold out until they open it up again.
Thanks

Unlucky, maybe they want ID so they would save £100? I didn't need to take ID to the bank when I opened my TSB account, but i didn't get £1000

I assume this is the same as i applied on friday but my account hasnt been opened yet0

I hope this isn't the case as I saw the offer advertised here so applied over the weekend, and went into a branch with my ID today. Surely it should be based on first application date not whenever the bank decide to complete their internal processes?
If I don't get the bonus, presumably then as I would have an account I wouldn't be eligible to claim a switching bonus if they do the offer again.0 -
I've just got off the phone with TSB about this - I also applied over the weekend, but only got my confirmation through today. So my 'account opened' date is the 9th.
They suggested I go in to a branch with my "We are processing your current account application" email and explain the situation, to see if they will honour the switch (as if not, I'm keeping my old account so I can get a switching bonus at another place!).
They really should do, as the link to switch was active until the 8th - they should have removed the link if applications wouldn't be processed in time to meet the criteria.
The direct number for the switching helpline is 0345 835 7838 - I haven't been able to get through, I imagine they're fairly busy with similar queries...0 -
In these situations a nicely worded letter is always worth a try.:)0

Some applications (that don't need ID) are 'fulfilled' immediately (i.e. opened at the end of the application).
Interestingly, it seems that due to some glitch in LBG's screen based account opening (SBAO) systems which TSB use, the system will refer an application to branch if you put full-time education as your occupation regardless of whether it has satisfactorily electronically ID'd you.0
