I think a stranger has a mobile contract and insurance at my address

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows of it it perfectly legal for someone else to use my address for mobile phones and insurance?

I have a few letters for a man that I haven't opened as I understand it is illegal to open someone else's post, that has come from EE.

I have had two saying.EE your insurance one on Friday and one today. These are the first this year.
Is this legal? If not what can I do?

It's perfectly legal to open post unless you ‘intend to act to another’s detriment'.

Either send the unopened mail back to the sender with "Not known at this address" on the envelope or open them and contact the firm and explain that the person doesn't live at your address.

I always open any mail delivered thu my door.

If anybody is using my address I want to know!
  • hark_at_thee - I have been in the position of receiving mail for someone I never heard of and after returning several as not known at this address kept getting mail for that person so I decided to open the mail in future.

It turned out the guy owed thousands of pounds to some major banks so I immediately informed all the banks in my home town as well as the police about my address being hi-jacked as I had been contacted by bailiffs chasing the money.

Open the letters and act asap as this type of issue can seriously damage your credit rating through association of addresses. If you get more mail do as I did and inform the police that you suspect criminal activity.
