OK here's a test - for advanced readers here it is out of context, what does the second line mean:

Interest paid on credit balances YB-tick.png

† Up to £3,000 minimum monthly deposit required

Does it mean if you pay in from £0.01 to £3000 monthly you will get some interest? And if you pay in £3001 you won't? I'm just not getting the "up to" and "minimum".

And in context:

    Confusing..

Interest is earned on credit balances up to £3,000.

AND ... A minimum monthly deposit is required of £1,000.

You will only get interest if you deposit the minimum amount each month. If you have £3,001 then you'll only get interest on £3,000. The interest rate on the balance above £3,000 is zero.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Interest of ? % will be paid on a balance of up to £3.000. If you exceed that limit, no interest will be paid on the excess amount.

A minimum monthly deposit of £ ??? is required to qualify for interest payments.

I think they ran out of commas.

If you tried that outside a bank you'd probably get your wrists slapped.

Sloppy work from YB (and presumably CB too?).

Should be either a full stop between "...£3,000" and "minimum monthly deposit required".

Or, perhaps better, "minimum monthly deposit required" should be placed in brackets.

Or even "interest payable on balances of up to £3,000 (minimum £1,000 deposit required)".
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

It's pretty sloppy - indeed there should just be a comma after the £3000, or that line should be rewritten. After all, the banks ask us to read some very complex and interminable Ts&Cs when signing up to new accounts - surely the basic information on the website should be crystal clear. This is plainly wrong.

    OK another YB moan:

On applying for an account you get presented with the following questions, and all 3 security questions get the same choices. This is plainly daft - I don't have a favourite film, meal, restaurant, book, teacher, subject OR TV star or show. I also can name about 50 memorable places, none of which I could recall on answering the question in a year's time. So I will have to note down my answers.

Asking about "favourites" is a little immature IMHO. Much better to ask something factual such as first pet's name, mother's maiden or first name, make/model of first car etc. What's next - favourite colour?

I don't see anything wrong with the favourite colour and some other 'favourites'. IMO it's far more daft to use, say, mother's maiden name as a security question everywhere. A secret de Polichinelle.
