How many credit cards do you have?

Just 2, Natwest YourPoints which I don't use anymore due to them ending the rewards scheme; and a Halifax Clarity for the overseas spending and the £5 a month reward. Been wanting to close the Natwest one but a bit worried what it would do to my credit score/history as it's my oldest one.0

I have too many and will be looking to cut down when the time is right.
Once I get my annual cashback from Aqua and Amex those two will be gone, and when quidco pay up for my Asda card I'll be getting rid of that too.
That will leave me with 4 which all get used regularly. I will be looking at adding the nationwide card soon too, as I think there's a free £25 for taking one of those!0 -
i don't think there's any reason to hold onto your NatWest card then Tom..
fair play for trying to simplify, but why close Amex, Carnival? what are the other 4? they can't all be better options that spending on an Amex card, can they?0 -
my other 4 are halifax clarity, santander 123, tesco and capital one (0.5% cashback + £10 per year).
the amex is only giving me 0.5% casback at the moment; its possible that i could reach the 1% bracket before my anniversary (ive been spending a lot recently) but i probably wont next year. i may well go back to them at some point in the future though!0 -
and you consider them all to be better than Amex? i've had cards with all of those providers but cling on to Amex:grouphug: and the best non-Amex card i can get my hands on (currently Barclaycard Cashback).0

I have two cards. One I use to pay my rent, council tax and my bus fare to work. It is a shop reward card and means I effectively get rewarded for paying my rent and council tax. The other I use for most other spends, putting the money aside into a parallel account to cover it each month. It is a reward card so I then transfer the rewards into vouchers, have used them towards Christmas/Birthdays and just to get things I needed. Both cards are paid off in full each month.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

3 now: MBNA Low Rate Mastercard now closed to new applicants. (Been expecting a transfer offer to MBNA Everyday Amex Low Rate but none yet). Lloyds Bank Platinum and my comparatively long standing Aqua Advance.0
