7 credit cards in all.
1. Barclaycard Amex/Visa cashback. Daily spend cards for cashback,1%Amex, 0.5% Visa.
2. MBNA Amex /Visa cashback. Backup to Barclaycard. 1%Amex, 0.5% Visa.
3. American Express Everyday Platinum cashback credit card 0.5%.
4. Halifax Reward Mastercard Clarity credit card with £5 rewards for monthly £300 spending. Main card for use when travelling abroad.
5. Saga Platinum Visa credit card, Backup for the Halifax credit card for use when travelling abroad where Mastercard isn't accepted or is available.
Thinking of closing the American Express Platinum cashback credit card 0.5% one and the Saga credit card, to streamline the number of cards that I have down to five.Money is like a bird.....if mishandled, will simply fly away....0 -
Sorry for the late reply the new card is a Post Office card as stated by Candy Apple. I need some ready cash so will spend on the 0% and keep the cash aside. It's all well under control and can be paid off if need be. Worst case is I'll have to pay a bit of interest on my mortgage againNothing to see here, move along.0

thanks Cib
so the MBNA 'dual' is the same rates as the Barclaycard 'dual', terafarma? i didn't know MBNA were paying out so well..
i wouldn't bother with the Saga card, but isn't the Amex card building up to a tier above 1%? i try to get my Amex card through the 3.5k threshold asap & then i know i am generating 1% and beyond:cool:0 -
Hi planteria, yes, the MBNA Amex /Visa cashback cards pay the exact same cashback as Barclaycard Amex /Visa cashback. I chose Barclaycard over the MBNA one as it has longer payment due date by direct debit, more so, Barclaycard tend to be more generous and accommodating to my requests than MBNA. As for the American Express Everyday Platinum cashback credit card and it's tiered cashback generations and payment, I'll rather have the assurance of 1%cashback across the board than speculate on getting a higher cashback rate above the current 0.5 %, and a yearly spending above £3500 which I may not achieve in a year. I'll not bother with Saga anyway as I'm getting rid of it pretty soon. Thanks. Terafarma.Money is like a bird.....if mishandled, will simply fly away....0

interesting tera
i assume, like the Barclaycard, that if the MBNA 'dual' account is available it is only available to existing members. i have just started a long BT deal on one of my two Platinum cards with them, so it doesn't really matter to me in the foreseeable, but it's good for us all for them to be in the cashback game.
and fair enough re. Amex. whatever is best for you, of course. my account notches up to 1.5% once i've spent 10k.0 -
