  • Good morning everyone,

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday JackieO, I hope you have a lovely day with your family and they spoil you.

So nice to see some blue sky and sunshine, although I'm not sure how long it will last!

Lainey - good luck for tomorrow,
dumpling - I hope you enjoy your visit to church today.
Mr & Mrs TA - will be thinking of you, and hope the treatment goes well and the journey not too tiring.

Well, DH got up and went to work ridiculously early as always. I had a bit of a lie in, but am up showered, dressed and have had breakfast. Not sure what time he will be home tonight. DD is up as she will be off to work for the lunchtime. DS is in bed, not sure if he will be around for dinner tonight, so not sure yet what to do. If he is I may do a stir fry as he will be working tomorrow, so will miss out on Chinese New Year!

Not too much to do today, I have the ironing to do and washing to put away, and will clean the bathrooms, but apart from that will just potter and surf the interweb:D

Have a good day everyone, stay warm and dry, another storm is on its way!!!

    Morning All

Very wet and windy here - again! Gers, be careful going up the road, it's quite wild.

Been swimming again but drove today as the weather is awful, washing in and DW emptied. Just had a lovely cooked breakfast, that will see me through to this evening.

Sorry to hear of guinea pig and chickies passings, so sad to lose a pet but they have had lives of plenty and much love.

Dumpling - hope you enjoy church, Lainey and the TAs - Good luck for tomorrow.

Thinking of going to the big blue and yellow shed (may run into Gers but I don't know what she looks like!) Also need to get more logs and pay a visit to Dobbies to get some seed pots. Apart from that I will read and sew up some of the knitting I've done.

Happy Birthday JackieO :bdaycake:, have a lovely day.

    Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX
  • Morning...just (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) if you need one. Ugg got the horrible new site, do not know why, do not like it at all, have to keep logging in despite ticking the 'keep me logged in' box.

Very windy yesterday, pulled the fire up quickly despite the bottom of the grate being closed. Still blowing a hoolie although the sun keeps coming and going.

Had a bit of a night last night, we have a carbon monoxide detector in the sitting room, also one we had for the caravan was on the dresser. I woke about 3am and could hear something bleeping, got up and went into the sitting room, the fixed monitor was silent but the other one was bleeping its head off. When I got it into the kitchen it was the fault light that was on, tried to reset it....no joy. Ended up having to leave it in the kitchen, closed all the doors so I could no longer hear it. This morning I had to bash it with the lump hammer to shut it up, its now in the bin.

By the way Elona, you need to check that you have a fixed CM detector and also an air brick in the sitting room, it became law last year that you had to have one if you had an open fire or a woodburning/ multifuel stove. Make sure you get the chimney swept before you use the stove as well. Our open fire was condemned last year by the sweep, we had to get the council to put in the air brick and also the monitor before we could use the fire.

Supper tonight, the turkey breast roast I bought incase we got snowed in and were not able to go to DD2's for lunch at Christmas. Will do roast spuds and butternut squash, cauli and calebrese with it. No dessert unless OH decided to have a banana and ice cream.

    Afternoon everyone

TA sorry to hear of the Guinea pig, when ours died , the other piggy was 5 yrs old so we didn't think it fair to get another one , so we cuddled her a lot and played with her and she seemed fine . She died about a year after the other one

Beautiful day today and I'm ashamed to say I'm still in my Jamas :o
I have been busy washing and ironing , including dd1s washing and uniforms. She's not well so she's resting bless her
And I'm currently making the Mexican tortilla bake . I was going to do it yesterday but the dds came home with a n@ndos instead

I've been going through dds budget with her as she is struggling to make ends meet . We have sorted out all her regular payments , she is going to put enough money aside each month for bills and I've worked out monthly equivalents for her quarterly and 6 monthly bills and advised her to move this across , then when a big bill comes in she's prepared. Pretty sure I've done this before with her but hopefully she will stick to it . She now has a budget for food , petrol , entertainment etc hopefully she will stick to it .

Hope everyone has a lovely day

JackieO happy birthday hope it's a good one :bdaycake:

The Mexican tortilla bake was a hit :j , it's delicious definitely worth making , I think the mango chutney really helps the flavour. Didn't have fresh chilli so substituted it with a pinch of dried chilli flakes and a teaspoon of hot chilli powder

    Hoppy Birdday JackieO.:bdaycake:
Patsy and Pandora will be going home tomorrow morning, so I've done their postcard today. I have a bit of fun when there's two dogs - use a black and a red pen, and make it like the dogs are both talking, interrupting each other, and ribbing each other; hopefully the owners enjoy it.:o

Mr LW went to the monthly Farmers Market - good thing too, we were down to 2 eggs and a tiddly-widdly bit of cheese left. He spent £66.60 which sounds a lot, but when you consider that includes a month's supply of cheese, and we don't buy meat or fish at all, it's not actually that bad. We also get a pot of unpasteurised cream - only one per month - which gets used partly for a cheese, onion, tomato and Qu0rn quiche, which I've made today, and the rest will be used up for choccie mousse.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I had a really busy day. DDs and son in law came round in the morning to help clear out the garage. I made a huge pot of chicken supreme (slimming world) with green beans and sugar snap peas as a side and mashed potato, carrot and butternut squash for lunch.

Hung out the bedding on the line outside and made a start on packing up the books in the wall to wall bookcase. Finally got them all in boxes. Had a look at the framed photos and paintings I wanted to keep and did a damp dust on them all.

Took dd out shopping for two new pairs of jeans as she has lost weight and bought some fruit and cold meat while we were out.

Have just come home and rescued the washing done the dishes and am about to prepare a meal for me and middle dd before she sets off later back to her house.

    Island maid and csarina

The surveyor recommended that I check the points you mentioned and middle dd especially is going to make sure I am safe. Thanks for reminding me especially about the CM detector.

    Happy birthday to JackieO.

Good Luck to dumpling on the outing today.

    TA

Fingers crossed for you both tomorrow.

    Hugs to all.

    Evening all,

Very windy here today, raining for the last few hours, no chance of clearing the veg beds.....maybe tomorrow.

Jackie O.....have a wonderful time with your lovely family.

Found a piece of cooked lamb in the freezer, thawing now to make a curry....love lamb curry, will have cous cous with it I think, wont need much so wont have to leave the rugby for long.

Have been crocheting a poncho for DD1 for what feels like months, will do some later, shou, d have it finished this week .

Mossy had a bath yesterday and a trim, he needs more off but will leave that until weather warms up a bit.......he is complaining and hogging the fire all day!

DGD 2 is 11 today, had a very short chat this morning, they were heading off to go snow tubing ( ??)for her birthday.

Sistercas....that tortilla bake looks really good, will try it during the week. Made a lovely aubergine recipe of Simon Hopkinson's last night to go with some hake.....he is my chef of the moment although some of his recipes are a bit pricey. Trust that DD can stick to her budget.

Csarina.....in my experience a lump hammer will silence most things!

TA......hope that you and Mr TA have a stress free to and from Liverpool.

Tru....sorry that you have lost your piggie.....the only pets we have had have been cats or dogs....no cat now as Mossy is allergic, or words tothat effect.

    Stay warm and safe everybody

    Marie
