Last autumn my boss’s son bought a old WV Camper van with the intent to do it up and use (I have no idea how old or what state it’s in).
He was going to start working on it in January (after getting a compressor and air-powered tools from his parents for Christmas).
However, he moved in with this girlfriend and has lost the interest/needs the money so he wants to sell it.
This is where I come in. They don’t have an eBay account & want me to use mine.
After reading some horror stories in the motoring section I am a little wary as to any comeback should the buyer have an issue.
Even if I make it clear that I am just using my account for someone else & have the payments sent to the son’s bank account could I be in trouble if, for example the buyer complains that more work needs to be done than they expected?

Ask yourself a few questions:
How long does it take to set up an e bay account?
Why would somebody want to use yours?
Then take a walk.0 -
You would be absolutely crackers to sell this on behalf of someone else. It is your account and therefore your problem of anything at all goes wrong and you stand to take any flack.
The only good news is that you don't have to take PayPal on a motor vehicle, but everything else is bad news. How are you going to arrange viewings , what happens when people call you and ask questions? What if they turn up and try and re negotiate the price ? Then if they don't pay and you have to go through the NPB process and start again will the owner appreciate the fees you are building up?
Then what happens when they have all your details and something goes wrong after they have paid, legally they might not have rights but they have all your details , not those of the owner. yOu are the one who at the very least could get poor stars or feedback .

I suggest you read up on eBay rules and conditions, there is no such thing as sold as seen on an online sale.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Could you tell your boss a white lie?
I've reached my selling limit, but I could easily set up an account for you.0 -
Aren't there more suitable channels to sell this? Autotrader? Isn't there a specialist magazine for campers that you can advertise vehicles for sale in? Normally Ebay lets you reach a wide audience but isn't this more a specialist item?0

Maybe http://www.justkampers.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=27 or http://www.justkampers.com/marketplace/advert/ where it'll be all VW fans looking to buy/sell is a better bet than ebay where you'll get infinite idiots?0
