Flight Delay Compensation Rejection from Air China

Hi! I'm seeking for some advice from the experts here.
My parents were scheduled to take a 10pm flight from London to Beijing last August with Air China. They couldn't leave that night as they were told that the scheduled plane was still grounded in Beijing due to the storm there, and when there was no plane coming there would be no plane leaving London. As a result, they didn't leave until 8am the next morning.
I helped them to submit a compensation claim to Air China recently. The claim was subsequently denied as Air China claimed the delay was due to "bad weather". Well yes it was bad weather in Beijing so the plane could not take-off, but the weather in London that night was perfect for take-off and landing.
My question is, is Air China's claim legitimate? And if we are indeed entitled to the compensation, is it better for me to continue to argue with them on my own or should I pass the case to the solicitors?
Many thanks in advance! :A

Hi,
It looks like your parents have a valid claim.
Read Vaubans guide to gain background information and advice on how to proceed. (just google it)
Try putting your flight information into a couple of claims calculators to see if they think you have a valid claim.
https://www.bottonline.co.uk/flight-delay-compensation/calculator
http://www.flightdelays.co.uk/flight-compensation/flight-delays-compensation-calculator
You could DIY but I'd be tempted to go with a good quality solicitor.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0
