Yes that counts as a return and you can use it on the intermediate days - as long as you have both tickets

Thank you for your help. Next time we hope to be more organised. We say the same all the time but never are. We have already purchased tickets for the Tower of London and thought we got a good deal at £18 each, when we could have got two for £25. Will we ever learn?

When you're in central London you can find most attractions near tube stations using this tube map. But better still use the buses (sit on the top deck and enjoy the view). These are some of the ones that show you the touristy bits (they're just ordinary buses so you use your Oyster card).

You'd need to get an Oyster card and maybe use this website to find stuff to do

and this one to find the shops

It is easier for tourists to use their contactless bank card than pay a refundable deposit for an Oyster card and top up as they go.

From personal experience they (bank cards) don't always work but Oyster cards more often do.

  • We have just returned from a weekend in London and used our contactless cards constantly without any problem. We registered them beforehand and can see clearly what journeys we took. Brilliant idea, no hassle of trying to work out fares and where you are going. No need to queue at ticket machines. No need to top up. Travel was a breeze. Would be great if it could be rolled out country wide.
