Hit and run

Hi

Please could someone advise me what to do about a recent hit and run.

I was parked outside my local shop when I car crashed into the back of me I was stationary I had not even had time to put my seatbelt on.. I jumped out of the car opened his passenger door and he said yeah alright I am pulling over and started driving off... A witness only got first part of the number plate and make... I was thrown forward and Having trouble with my neck now I attended my local hospital after this had happened because I got a terrible headache... The police have been to the local shop and have seen the hit on camera but couldn't make the number plate out....somebody said I could claim whiplash, but I don't know how when I have no number plate !

    Okay. Thank you.

You can claim for the damage to your own car, but not for whiplash under your own insurance policy. This will increase your premiums and you will have to pay an excess.

Unless the car / driver of the car that hit you can be traced and identified you can't claim for damage to your car, or whiplash either.
    Wrong.

You can claim for whiplash through the Motor Insurers Bureau under the untraced drivers agreement. Www.mib.org.uk

But the OP doesn't have the means to trace the driver, or the vehicle.

That's sort of the point of an untraced drivers agreement.

What's to prevent someone having an accident with no one else involved, but falsely claiming there was a third party that caused the damage and drove off?

MIB wouldn't just take your word.

Like any other claim it will be thoroughly investigated - and expect a long wait between claim and payout!

(why not just stand corrected over your misinformation in posts #2 & #5?)
