Moved House - Bills - Opened New Credit Accounts

Good Afternoon,

I am just posting to query if something is right.

We have just moved house and have moved our British Gas (gas & electric combined) account with us.

Since the move my credit report has shown 2 new/young credit accounts (one for gas and one for electric) which are dramatically reducing my credit score. I thought sticking with the same supplier would mean that the account would be the same and therefore my credit information wouldn't be affected.

Should British Gas be reporting them as new accounts (instead of continuing)?
Should British Gas be reporting them as separate accounts (instead of combined)?

With having to also set up with Virgin Media I am worried about all the warnings across the report of "You have opened 3 new credit accounts in the last 6 months" when it should only be one.

It seems to be the way that British Gas do things. Technically you have opened 3 accounts, as you've got gas, electricity and phone.

Assuming the account numbers are different from the old address, this would be why.

We did just an address swap when we moved on the phones/banks etc, and thus the only new accounts opened were gas/elec, which with our chosen supplier don't show on the credit files.
