Faulty Phone - Help

Hi, I took a new Sony Z5 through a 24 month contract with EE through The Smartphone Company bback in October 2015.
Over the last few weeks the charging on the phone has been getting worse, I've gone through numerous chargers, different plug sockets even in car charging but the phone only charges intermittently now.
The smartphone company say I have to go through Sony under the manufacturers warranty but I'm confused. I thought my contract was with The Smartphone company so they're responsible for any repairs or replacement, not the manufacturer.
Help?

You are correct .
However going direct to the manufacturer can save time .
I would want written confirmation that the vendor is sending you direct to Sony but fully understand that its their liability under Consumer Regulations .
Some will say that EE are also liable .0 -
Thanks. My only worry going direct through Sony is the 7-10 days minimum they're quoting for any repair work. I'm frustrated because I don't have a landline and in between job hunting and hospital visits for family I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy a cheap handset and payg sim to make sure I can stay in touch. Just hoped the Smartphone Company would be able to help with a loaner but if going direct to Sony will be quicker, guess I'll do that.0

Go through the vendor and they may well send it to Sony .0

Why do you need a PAYG SIM? Swap your existing SIM out to a backup handset, plenty available at a tenner or less.
If your mobile is needed without interruption, you need to be on a business tariff which gives you a loan one when it's under repair. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
