Fortunately I have not had many calls in a while but I used to find just not confirming the security questions was a way of ending the call, I used to say I would only deal with them by letter.0

Great to hear you are feeling better
Just to add to the excellent advice the others have alreadfy posted make sure that if you do receive just one more call that you report them. It is important as how many other people will he call in the same day and make there life a misery? maybe the next person will not have access to MSE and hate think of what they may then do...
The idea of telling them that you are recording the call works wonders as they will not want to have to face a OFT investigation.
This should be an eye opener to anyone who is just starting the Debt free journey as these people use scum tactics all the time and tell outragous lies.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
Just caught this thread. My jaw was getting lower and lower and finally hit the floor by the time I got the the end of the original post.
What an absolute !!!!!!.
Katie hon, as you've no doubt realised by now due to all the wonderful responses you've had, (but I just want to show my support), this man is simply a bullyboy, 'employed' to intimidate.
One day he and the company will (we hope) get what's coming to them. He's talking buffalo bagels (thanks Colonel Potter of M*A*S*H for that one) and if he calls again - just laugh at him, perhaps, if you can be bothered, tell him you've taken advice & read up on what is legal and what is not legal and then put the phone down.
Hope you are feeling even better today. The sun is out, you're sorting things....and this man no doubt still has a small pen1s.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

They called again today! Once on the landline and twice on the mobile. It was the same woman all times and i just told her that i had sent a letter yesterday recorded delivery and i know they had received it because i checked online this morning, i told her she should take the time to read the letter as i had clearly stated how i no longer wanted to be called, Her responce... 'This is the only way we can contact you'... I just laughed and asked if she had heard of the royal mail and put the phone down. She called a further 2 times after this but i just put the phone down without saying anything.

Well done K~b, you're already getting back in control of the situation. :T :T :TI am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

well done!! i spoke to someone at moorcrofts last week to inform them that i had to lower my payments from 25 to 15 quid a month. the guy was a right to$$er and wanted to know why, i explained that i was in receipt of incapacity benefit and he wanted to know how much and what i was spending it on whilst haveing a right shouting fit at me, i said oh stuff it i'll just pay it on-line. if they send a letter saying i'm behind with my payments i'll tell them where to get off and to give their telephonists some manners traing0

Hey Snaggles ! Can I steal your letter templates for use in my work ? they are excellent !
On the subject of debt collection companies, as many on here know, THEY HAVE NO POWERS WHATSOEVER all they can do is ask you to pay, thats why they bully people. Keep on paying as your plan, and send off those letters.
Ive reported collecting companies to the police before today, after other warnings, they did nt like that !!

crikey... 599 is nothing - in the grand scheme of things. i wonder if that's why he went after the small fry. sometimes they do try it on when balances get to under the thousand mark.
he's a jobsworth and a nasty one at that. hope you're ok now. its the shock of being spoken to like that that makes you cry - i'm glad you came on here and told us so we could cheer you up.0
