:eek:I may have misunderstood from conflicting information - it was actually on this website MSE:eek: - I understood that BB for eggs means 'use by'. BB dates should, I thought, be ignored for everything except for eggs (which I understood to be the exception). That's what I believe this website said anyway. However, it seems to conflict with this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2074359/Salmonella-Eggs-best-dates-taken-pinch-salt.html
Seems they may keep changing their advice all the time and we don't where where we stand or what we are to do.
I wouldn't say well after BB date, in respect of eggs, but, it seems, two days later is fine. Unless they have changed their advice again:rotfl:. We did try. We kept the eggs a bit - but there's only so far you can go with none of them being consumed. We didn't have any cake mix then:rotfl:. Nor would they be used on sandwiches - literally not taking them without any bacon and not got any bacon so no egg & bacon sandwiches either:rotfl:!
I'm sorry, but for 'use by' - or being told that BB, in relation to eggs only and eggs being the only exception - means 'use by' - I tend to take that literally and, as soon as it's gone past, I tend to chuck it out. (I even contacted the FSA once and asked when it says a particular use-by date does that mean that, when it clicks to midnight and the day after starts, that, at that point, we should not be consuming it - and they told me "yes" they actually set things like that so that after the use-by date it shouldn't be consumed.) That's their strict advice and, as a person on the spectrum, I am the only one ever following it. (Just like I am the only one ever complying with speed limits on the roads.) Though we don't chuck much out at all:money:, as if it's 'use by' we use by and don't let thing get to their date. Except the eggs were - and I solved that problem by not buying them again. Not having them at all in future given that they just don't get used enough here.
With rule setting - you do, the "NT" world, the NTs set rules for NTs, which no NTs ever then follow or comply with, whilst the person with Asperger's is constantly following and trying to follow every one of the rules - which then conflict with themselves as well - and is then caused significant stress by the burden of having to follow them. That everyone else ignores and no-one else ever follows. Perhaps they just instinctively know when to apply and disapply laws that they also say everyone must comply with and that people should never break the law - and then claim to be a law-abiding society when well over 90% of drivers in it admit to speeding. For me, I don't know when to disapply a law that the society says I must follow. I've been caused stress in the past by seeing a 40 mph sign and even if I've felt I've inadvertently gone 1 mph over it.
This:

- notices in dressing rooms - the notices won't ever be complied with! People do it because it is natural to do it and unnatural to suppress themselves, as part of their performance. The notices will be ignored and this will therefore, in my contention, happen again. The performers are (like the rest of society) almost exclusively NT. Only the person with Asperger's would even notice the notice was there let alone, as a person with Asperger's or me would, then follow it and comply with its terms strictly and absolutely. The problems arise when the notice - or any notice - has any possible ambiguity in meaning at all and its words could mean more than one thing. However, it does not matter - or does not appear to matter - to the person more generally. Such a person is NT and, if they notice the notice in the first place - which seems quite unlikely - they will then either ignore it or else a study of their behaviour thereafter will indicate that their behaviour does not match their intention - or stated intention - of ever complying with it.
They are 'rules' that you - i.e. you generally, your NT society - sets for you, that you almost never comply with or extremely often indeed do not do so.
So, my contention is the 'swearing on the radio' thing, in live concerts on Radio 1, will happen again in future (much to my own amusement) in spite of any notices or anything else that they choose to do and that then, when it does happen again and the measure proves totally ineffective (since no NTs will ever notice it or take it seriously even in the seemingly unlikely event that they did), the person with Asperger's will, yet again, simply be here saying "I told you so:D".0 -

So at the end of January I won a twitter competition run by Handmade burger company ( they were running numerous draws during national breakfast week) and they sent me a voucher for a free breakfast and a hot drink so we got the early train into Birmingham this morning.
Birmingham New Street has had a huge revamp, you would not recognise it now and it has now have a new vast shopping centre around it called Grand central. I've passed through on the train numerous times but this was the first time we have stopped and actually had a proper look at the shopping centre. Its actually very nice, all under one roof and leads through to the Bull Ring so you can do a vast ammount of shopping without going outside.
Locctaine is now there - annoying that I did not realise, very useful for when there are freebie vouchers.
This is the only handmade burger place that does breakfast, very odd looking place like a warehouse but the staff were lovely.
Breakfast does not come on plates but on a wooden board - eating off a board is very peculiar. We had the macho breakfast which is vast and shared it between us - I just had a piece of well done bacon, very nice herby sausage, tomato with pesto and piece of toast and OH had everything else
(During the week its 2 breakfasts f or £10 so not too expensive £7.95 each at the weekend - cheaper than a hotel breakfast anyway and we got 50% off cards on the way out - not checked the conditions yet.)
So we took lots of oics and left nice messages on their FB and twitter feed.
Then I had a cheque to put into the building society and as we came out I noticed a chap giving out little cartons of up and go to passers by - you know the free ones that were on the cashback lists for a while? It was pouring with rain so this chap was racing away towards the bull ring so we gave chase and stopped him and got 4 cartons. I also noticed that he had 50p MOCs in his box so he let he scoop them up so I came away with loads - very useful as our Sainsburys often has them in its reduced section
Next we found Greggs as I'd still got my free Greggs birthday cake on my Greggs app so we got a coffee cream doughnut - £1.
Then we went to marks as I had something to put into the Oxfam box. The girls were completely non plussed and had no idea how to do the till transaction so I had to find the notes I'd made in my notebook and I told the girl what to press on her till. With your marks sparks card you get 50 points for each Oxfam item - the snag being that the till girls have not been told or till trained so last year while a supervisor was talking a till girl through the process I wrote the instructions down and since then I've been till training wherever we go:rotfl:
So finally when these points go on I am now over the magic 3000 point mark which means I should get extra offers - not that the offers have been that exciting so far
Then we popped upstairs to the cafe to share a large latte (and also secretly eat the Greggs doughnut - yes I can be naughty :rotfl:
So a total spend for the morning of 10p in the cafe as we have hot drink vouchers which cover the cost of drinks up to £2.65 - free Greggs cake worth £1, free breakfast and drink worth about £10.50 and we have train passes - a very MSE morning“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. What if I've got a cold?
No, I don't mean that!
It's not always completely accurate - the 'sniff test', even if it's I admit "probably" (my own word) a good one. So, the problem for me with Asperger's is that there is this ambiguity as to whether it is reliable or not - it is not accurate in every and all circumstances - so I therefore end up not knowing whether something is okay to eat or not, even if it smells fine, I also tend to have a conspicuous lacking in common sense (as the books on Asperger's - I ought to get my head out of books lol:rotfl: - would say) - the problem being that "common" sense sometimes isn't that common at all - the usual story brought back - judge sends jury out out on a murder case, asks them to use their "common sense" - jury foreperson returned, asked the judge what "common sense" meant - obviously the jury members could not all agree on a verdict - so, says this Asperger's person, it's not common sense after all! I look at things too much:o:rotfl:. Most people would just go 'gut instinct' and that could - any decision at all - qualify as "common sense". Everything would be fine. But, no, the Asperger's person tries to work out what different people would do - and, as some people would do one thing but others do another, then I can't reach any objective decision as to which is right or wrong and can't choose between two seemingly equally valid approaches and therefore have no view of my own. I then err on the side of caution and throw the product out anyway, even though the chances were it was probably safe. However, that's the problem - the ambiguity in the word "probably". It might not be safe and, any doubt at all - and believe me I always have doubt even if the level of doubt is very minor indeed - any doubt, safety must always come first, so I err on side of caution and out it goes. I do have more common sense than might be thought from this but I also tend to have too much doubt - and coupled with stress about things potentially not being okay that would result if I were to consume them - I used to be more risk-taking in the past, I don't know what happened:rotfl: - I do everything, at all costs, to avoid that - so if I'm unsure, in any way, I just assume it's not safe and chuck it out. Best to be that way, than risk illness.
I am fine with BB dates - apart from only eggs which I thought it meant "use by" - that's what MSE's article told me (unless I mis-remembered or misunderstood what it was saying) and I know NTs never say what they mean so that when they say BB, in relation to eggs, they mean something else - or maybe not - it now seems that, when MSE said that eggs BB is a use by, they don't mean that either as it turns out, from the DM article, they mean 2 days after it - will you please say what you mean? - but, other than for eggs where I understood (wrongly it turns out) that BB meant use by, I am fine with BBs as I ignore them totally and eat food well afterwards (depending on how long the date was up to the BB as a guide to how long afterwards to go with it).
I might (in relation to eggs) try the jug test. That's more concrete. However, I wonder if it is always guaranteed, under literally all circumstances, to give the right result. However, it won't matter anyway as I'm no longer buying eggs since they just never got used up enough and they just weren't getting mainly consumed within a reasonable time at all.0
