are you only doing quarterly readings?

I read my metre every month so at least I know how good or bad things are and I always know exactly how much I am in credit (or debit)

December was a strange month. Even though we were not home for 2 weeks we still managed to use £160 of electric - was it really that cold in December or was it because of Christmas lights and visitors showeringing and eating for days on end?
back down to £60 in January which was fairly normal

No I do regular readings myself and adjust them down so that when the summer comes and my gas meter sits idle they still think its in use and I pay off the shortfall. Its the only way, with such high usage that I can have a cheap tariff and a dd as they insist on it being settled by the end of the year and its such a battle keep changing the dd amount.

 IIRC our monthly DD combined is now £65 following the recent switch to B Gas. Heating on when required (not wearing extra layers etc to keep warm). It may be worth looking at switching, extra insulation and your use as that is a significant amount to spend each month/year on keeping warm. Are your readings up to date/meters working correctly?

Its spot on, but my meter runs the two houses together which total seventeen rooms and we have a baby in house number two so its a lose, lose situation....saying that my youngest son has advanced me the money from his housekeeping and will reduce that over the year so will pay them off so that I can complete my switch (which is what triggered it all )xxx:T:T:Txxxxx
