If anyone has a stay in Edinburgh booked we did this boat trip last year. You can get the train out from Waverley, its only about 20 mins and then its about a 10 min walk from the station to the pier. You book online
It was August when we went, still freezing cold but really worth going, the red bridge is even more staggering in real life ( we have an obsession with bridges) and the boat trip is lovely, you get really up close to the grey seals, we got some fab photos
I think it was living social we got our vouchers.

the vouchers are valid up until May but this offer is only on for the next day.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

You probably have the oven too hot.
If that is not the case there is a couple of things you could try, fold over a couple of sheets of newspaper (4 layers or so) and wrap those around the tin not too far above the top and tie with cotton string, then cook as normal, or you could try a silicon cake "tin".
At the end of the day though, who really cares if the cake have crusty edges
Thanks enterprise , it doesn't really bother me but would like to know where I'm going wrong, I've tried different tins and silicone, it doesn't happen on the fairy cakes and I have tried lowered for longer and higher temp but shorter time but still happens but it's not all the edge that's crusty it's like a rim and it's as dry as sawdust so ruins the cake
I'll post a photo to see if you see what I meanOne cannot change the past, but one can ruin the present by worrying over the future.0 -
