These "reduced to clear" items in M. Obviously they will have people buying them as people will see they are (according to the claim) "reduced" and therefore perhaps assume that that is a very good price. Not always the case. As well as the store-specific shelves, with two recent items that appear to have gone up in price and other stock, including damaged stock, that has had a few pence knocked off it and put on a "reduced" shelf but has not gone down nearly as much as a half price offer on perfect stock at other times, we now have this one.
£4.98 RTC in M - pull the other one!

So, Boots' half price is cheaper! And, on in an item like this - of several pounds anyway - the difference can be not insignificant - over a pound on this case, just this one item - and, if you are saving like that on not just this but several items over time, then your saving adds up to quite a lot! Just one careless mistake in M and you have paid £1.25 too much! (Compared to somewhere else at the moment.)

I don't know - when something has a "Reduced to clear" label - prominent on the shelving - whether or not they sell more as a result, but I'd certainly have thought they would - I see stores where items are left around in stock and haven't been sold, when the store has not changed the SEL or hasn't put "Reduced to clear" up but stores that have had that the items have gone OOS. They may be some of those Alpen bars at 40p continuing to be available in "M in total" for quite some time - saw some yesterday, in a store that hasn't put the pricing up and doesn't have any "Reduced to clear" sign:rotfl:.

I remember the "increased to clear" one too - the sign said "Reduced to clear":naughty: (and the stock then suddenly started to appear to diminish:(:(). The Savers Tortillas have long been 46p. They were 'always' 46p, as far as I saw. Ever since they moved to that size from the half-that-size packs at 23p possibly two years before. Then they went up to "Reduced to clear 50p", after which they went back to 46p. I think they intended to put the standard-range Tortillas onto RTC - they were (and are) much higher priced and were probably intended to go down to 50p (still more expensive than Savers - and A SP vs M/T on those anyway) but the "Savers" version was put onto that price and actually increased in price when the stores just put up the "Reduced to clear" label they had been sent. I don't think it was actually deliberate, in that sense. I did see one store where the RTC label, which was originally present, was then taken away - it then showed the 50p but it had clearly (to me but not to the person who just saw it) still increased. This was quite a while ago now, and has now been back at 46p for quite some time.

The Hershey's Cookies N Cream Bars (43g individual), which were on 30p RTC (genuinely) just after Christmas, later went up to 71p (then found on one store's "reduced" shelf with the word "reduced" over all the place!) - they are now 71p and 2 for £1:wall:!:(:(

    Afternoon all

I can't remember who asked, but just looked in the Co-op and the 1kg of caster/demerera/golden granulated is £2.29 each. Managed to find 3 of the free things in Waities, nicely added to my Christmas hamper stash :)

Looking again a number of the Tate £1 cashback offers are in W (item 3 down) with only the first two C00p. £1.99 W.

    Hth and sorry for misinformation.

I remember the one in the clothes shop too. They had some necklaces or something - can't remember exactly what it was - and different one that were, let's say, £2 don't know what actual price was! There were others at £8 - and, because they were placed along with others of similar price, people thought they were a lot better and bought those instead of the £2 ones! In truth, the only difference was the colour.

Then what happened? Well, the shop increased the price on the £2 ones to let's say £5, and then put the £8 ones on "Reduced to clear! Half price £4!". People were then buying them more - even though they were twice the price of the ones that had previously been available at £2!

So, don't shop when the "sales" or "reduced to clear" pricing is on - it's probably cheaper to shop at a "non-sale" time, when it's not being heavily promoted, and then look for other versions that are cheaper than the more expensives ones, that, because they are bunched together or in a different part of the store, look like they are good price but only because they are in the context of other equally expensive surrounding items.

That said, it's not always wrong to buy RTC items. Just be selective - and pick only ones that really are good value. I avoid a lot of £1 RTC items now - from experience their prices, if there is any stock left, tend to reduce even more if they don't sell enough.

I've fallen for the Rye Crispbread in M. I picked up a packet (200g) yesterday - RTC 50p, which seemed good, although I wondered if I was risking them falling down even further next week. I always make mistakes if I buy something without checking in advance that the price really is a good price compared to elsewhere.

This seemed alright - although I did not do the maths:( - but fortunately I've now checked (yes, only afterwards:eek::wall:) and the Finn crispbread 200g in A is 70p so clearly would be worse, the Ryvita Crispbread 250g that was 2 for £1.50 in T, so 10% off 75p for two earlier, would have equated, if the comparison worked, to 54p per 200g, and the crispbread in Aldi, according to msm, but I really should not trust that, 250g is 69p so would be 55.2p per 200g.

I suggest not to trust msm as, if you looked on there to try to find the best value, you can be missing items in M that aren't on there, and Lidl, that work out better value than what is. For example, A's and T's Passion Fruit 3 pack at £1.25? An individual Passion Fruit in M at the moment is 25p, so clearly three of those would save you another 50p:money:. On top of the £1.25 saving you'd made by not buying the razor in M but perhaps going along to Boots next time you were there (or not bothering buying it at all:rotfl:). It depends though on what size the Passion Fruits are in A, T and M. The individual Passion Fruit in M is not on msm, so you would not know about it.

Yer, if it doesn't populate then the hard part is going to be working out what items are in the deal.
So if there are any early birds in A's tomorrow can you keep your eyes peeled please. :)
Would be even better if one of the wines that are on mb at the moment are included in the offer.
    Possible double discount.

The advert for this was on tv last night and I was trying to see what was on the plates!!:D

This was definitely on one plate.:)

Just a heads up. The snack a jacks came back 2 for £2 on my 11.30 shop.

Cheesyball, did you pay 2 for £2 please, could you check your receipt. Tks. The offer is still showing incomplete and I am wondering if some stores updated before others as the new offer is due to start tomorrow.

These have appeared before Zippy but as yet I haven't seen them populate and update showing the individiual items. They are usually signed around the stores.

I wonder if this is a special one for Valentine's Day.
