Has anyone any idea if this could be a solution to get what he wants for his daughter ?
Yes it could be the solution but Trusts are complicated and the tax treatment of any income is different and needs to be understood. Also if the property is over the IHT limit there will be a charge now and a revisit every 10 years.
He needs to speak to a STEP qualified lawyer or accountant.0 -

What if he was to gift the property as Tenants in common - in unequal shares say 99% to daughter and 1% to son in law would this stand up.0 -
Not if they are married. After they have been married for more than just a few years the starting point is a 50/50 split of all assets on divorce. So it doesn't matter who owns what it all gets pooled.
If the daughter isn't married then a gift to her would work.0
