    Cheers for helpful replies all.
    Time to close the thread.

Amazon replied to my email (following Vis's link, daft that I didn't find that in the 1st place!).
They said the email was sent in error, as they got mixed up there end...
Dis-agreements are fine, I accept that, but trolling is all to common, and easy to spot with how the words are written..
Remember, I wrote a thread asking for views on a situation, some answers are clear as day trolling... But, no matter what forum you use, trolls exist..
Luckily, I trump Trolls, so all is good.

I think that's fairly unlikely, especially given they didn't even know how to contact Amazon, nor would anyone sensible leave an audit trail if committing fraud.

    That's a fairly childish comment :-)

Not really childish at all. I just thought that as the OP was eager enough to refer to the "many thieves that work for Royal Mail" without actually having any proof, they wouldn't have any objection to someone calling them a thief without any proof either.

Or if one of the many thieves that work for Royal Mail have taken it, I am done, as don't have any paperwork to say the item was posted at a Royal Mail office.....

    Views ?

Are you asking for views on your final paragraph?

That is a shocking thing to say.

If you come here asking for help it does not help your cause to be so offensive.

I think it's more that he doesn't have much success at following simple instructions.

I take it my response is one of the 'trolling' answers.

The problem is you are talking rubbish, no one was trolling you. People disagreed with you calling other people thieves and making a hugely general statement about people who work for a company.

If you only wanted people to discuss the actual scenario then there was absolutely no need to include that part. You included it and invited comment.

To be fair, if you're going to accuse them of not following instructions, you might need to make sure you've read their post properly yourself in the first place. OP was told they could use a sorting office as a drop off point.
