Amazon - Royal Mail - Me at Loss :(

Hey all,
Think I know the answer already, which is "I will be out of pocket", but just looking to see what others think of this scenario.
Ordered External Hard drive from Amazon for £56.98.
Amazon send me an 'Internal hard drive'.
I complete the online form to say Amazon sent wrong item.
Amazon send correct item following day.
On that same day, I follow the process to start the Return (11th Jan)....
I print the label, enclose the returns info, and follow the online process of where to take the parcel to for returns.
The website shows me a Collect+ place, and post office's....
It also shows me that I can take the Returns parcel to the Royal Mail sorting office which is across the road from my office.... (mean't to say RM Delivery Office)
Sooooooooooooo.........
I take the item across the road to the sorting office (mean't to say RM Delivery Office)
, lady behind counter checks with her manager about accepting amazon returns here, all is good, parcel handed over.
I ask about any proof I can get its delivered (apart from the CCTV!), and I am told its only Post Office that will do Proof of Postage.
Ok, so I figure, its now in the hands of the Royal Mail, this cant go wrong ???
So now, I have an auto-email from Amazon, to say the return parcel hasn't been received. And by the 17th Feb, they will bill my bank card £61.99 if item not received.....
As there is no option when I log into AMazon to send an email to them, how can I check my options ? no tele number either
Did Royal mail deliver the item, but when Amazon opened the box, they found an Internal Hard drive, but were expecting a 'External hard drive', as the original order would show an External hard drive, but the returns team would be oblivious to the fact I was sent the wrong thing in the first place....
So they don't add it to the system to say the item is returned ?

Select order. Choose method to contact. Phone number or email options to reach out to Amazon.0 -

You can't get proof of delivery or proof of postage from the Delivery Office/Mail centre. That was a mistake on your part.
IME Amazon CS are very good with oddities like this. Contact them and explain. But with no certificate of posting you are at their mercy as you cannot show you returned the item.Or if one of the many thieves that work for Royal Mail have taken it, I am done, as don't have any paperwork to say the item was posted at a Royal Mail office.....

I don't work for RM but even I find that insulting. Grow up.0 -
If it was a Royal Mail return label Amazon staff will be able to see that Royal Mail scanned the barcode to initiate the return.
As for calling many of the Royal Mail employees thieves, how would you feel if Amazon accused you of theft and just keeping the hard drive and pretending you had sent it back?0 -
I love how my choice words picked up the Trolls!

Glad to see I keep you entertained. Guess I should have rephrased and said non RM employee's..
I have my reasons for my statement, and the backing to go with it, irconically, from the many peeps I am friends with who are staff for RM....
However, this thread was about my scenario, not to start flaming...0 -
How insulting to people who have just tried to help you.
Well done on just putting others off.0 -
wow, another troll!0

You may as well try another board or forum now as nobody reading this thread is going to offer you any help (at least, I hope they won't).0

So you never got a proof of 'handing over to Royal mail'? If they said go to a post office, you should probably have followed their advice. I kind of get that you don't take advice well...
Oh and if someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't make them a troll
You should speak to Amazon, their customer services is normally great with this (I once had a delivery firm claim they sent a package to my neighbour without telling me which one.. Amazon resent it without a problem).0 -

I think that's fairly unlikely, especially given they didn't even know how to contact Amazon, nor would anyone sensible leave an audit trail if committing fraud.
That's a fairly childish comment :-)
That said, OP, someone disagreeing with you doesn't make them a troll. You also need to grow up a little.
Amazon will sort you out, email them.Hello There. :beer:0
