Pretty horrible and can't believe that no witnesses came forward.

I've asked if I could have a link to the original footage. Doubt the police would have spent the time really looking in to it, a couple of people in my office are really good at photoshop and I've used it for astrophotography to get detail out of seemingly a sea of black.

Figured if we could tell if its a man or a woman, maybe they can pursue a civil case against the driver (the 2 people who had permission to drive are a man or a woman)

I seen this earlier, it's appalling

Perhaps an eye opener to all the motorists who question & complain about cyclists who wear cameras.

I don't see why someone would be against a cyclist with a camera, unless that cyclist is purposely driving in such as a way to try and provoke a reaction so they can post on youtube, but it clearly isn't the case here. They should ban the pair of potential drivers for life, I'm sure one of them will soon blab.

Any idea why CPS failed to prosecute?

If the date of the video is correct then the only offence still in date is dangerous driving. On the face of it this may fit but on a one off incident and no other witness's CPS don like it.

    That explains it. Thanks.

Driver wouldn't disclose who was driving (there were 2 people with permission to drive the hire car). 6 points and £150 fine
  • Given the seriousness of the accident, possibly someone killed or in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, a mere £150 is not an acceptable fine for failing to reveal who was driving. Its an admission of guilt in itself why the person decides not to help the police or admit they were guilty.

I'm on a lot of motoring forums and the general thought process is a cyclist with a camera = a cyclist looking for trouble. They think all cyclists wear them to either try and police the roads when the police aren't there or to antagonise motorists.
You try explaining the genuine reasons but they pretend that drivers would never hit a cyclist and drive off.

It was a case of them claiming not to know who was driving, rather than not willing to tell them who the driver was.

It maybe an admission of guilt, but only to the offence of failing to name the driver at the time of the collision and nothing else.

It does nt mention that the driver claims "not to know who was driving " in the Nottingham news item. Just that the driver initially refused to answer a "formal request for driver details "and failed to respond. Then fined 6 points and a mere £150 for failing to provide driver details.
The other offence committed is failing to stop after an accident as well as dangerous driving.
