Three - Upgrade cheaper than current plan!!

Hi folks, I'd like to pick people's brains on this.

I currently have a plan with three that gives me 4GB of data and unlimited texts / minutes.
For this, I pay £39 per month.

I've been playing with my '3' app over the past week and I have noticed that if I select "Change price plan", it lists my current plan as being priced at £21.50 per month, with an upgrade available to 8GB data with all you can eat texts /mins for £24.50 per month.

If I chose this upgrade at £24.50, are three obliged to honour it? I don't need that much mobile data, but it's £14.50 cheaper per month.

I'd phone them if I could be sure I'd get to speak with someone with good English.

EDIT: I've just looked again. It's now showing me the new price at £24.08 lol

It's not a rocket science, and I don't think you need Einsteins for this.
    Why not simply look online?
    http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Plans_for_phones

    8Gb+ "All-you-can-eat minutes" is £24x12 or £27x1.
And if you don't need that much data, there are 4Gb, 2Gb and 1Gb plans.

And yes, if your minimum term expired, it was silly to keep paying £39 for what you were getting.

Do you really need to call them to change your plan? Can this not be done online?

iD were offering 4GB (using 3) for £12.50 per month recently.

Unless you use feel at home or the 'in touch' app there are few differences. You could either move or use it to get a better deal if you request your PAC.

Sorry, I neglected to say that I am less than a year into a 24 month contract.

It's very tempting to just sign up for it and see what happens. My contract was set at £36 for my iPhone 6, AYCE texts / mins but with only 2GB of data.

My old 4S contract was unlimited data with text and minutes capped but I couldn't have the same on a new phone.

I used the price plan changer not long into this contract for what I have now.

If you current plan is £21.50 and you change it to 24.50 - Arent you going to be paying £3 more?

I don't know how three work their current contracts but it sounds a bit like o2 refresh and the remaining cost (£39-£21.50) monthly cost of £17.50 is towards paying off your "free" handset.

So I would guess your new monthly bill would be £17.50 + £24.50 = £42 but hopefully someone will be able to advise if I am talking rubbish.

I don't think that Three do anything like 'refresh', 'freestyle' etc.

Surely you can't upgrade until you are in the last month of your 2 year contract.they have to recoup the cost of your iPhone6 before you upgrade

They might hide it in the billing system, I have seen another post today talking about a £16 network element with a £12 phone element - But I have no experience.

Op -> Did you find out more?

Well, I decided to try my luck.

I have no idea if will actually be honoured or not but I tapped the screen a few times to set it up and from the messages I got it's all set up. I even got a confirmation SMS message lol.

My billing cycle starts in the 11th anyway so I'll soon see if there is any change.

I'll keep this thread updated as to what happens.

At the time of starting the thread, my contract price was £39. The £21.50 is the amount that the three app was telling me. It was obviously incorrect however, if that's what they said it should cost then I have nothing to loose by chancing my arm lol.

I do know for a fact that if the apple stores set your contract up and make a mistake, they have to cover the cost of that mistake. Usually by covering the entire contract price.

It's not a phone upgrade. It's the option that Three give to change the price plan that you may be on.
