Wed 3rd Feb - What small DFW things will you do today?

Hugs BB hope you're able to get some rest and just go with this tired phase, it will pass.
Good morning guys. Thanks for starting the thread ally. Hope you have a fantastic break & am very jealous! I LOVE going to spas and go to the local ones as regularly as I can afford (cost is £25 an hour for use of facilities and the other is £12.50. The first is soooooo much better so if I can afford it I will go to that one) but I've never stayed at a spa retreat. Might try to save up to do that for my birthday this year I think....
So feeling a bit flat today
so am planning to get my chores out of the way and do some soul nurturing things with my afternoon. My ds is coming for dinner this evening so that will be nice. He's just moved in with his father and it's not going so well
He was estranged from his father until he was 18 and recently his father said he could move in with him as ds has been having a hard time and could do with some support but now he's actually there his father isn't making him feel very welcome :mad:
Anyway small plans for the day:
*[STRIKE] checked banking [/STRIKE]- need to do some shuffling
* [STRIKE]read martin's email[/STRIKE] - anyone else think it's not as good anymore????
* NSD. Not planning on going anywhere near any shops
*[STRIKE] flylady bathroom & dgd's room[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] do 1 thing off of my annoying list[/STRIKE] have done 1 and think I will manage another couple of small ones before the day is out
*[STRIKE] updated frugal living ss[/STRIKE] - still not quite as I want it so some more tinkering needed...
* all meals from stores - last of moroccan stew for my lunch
* might go for a run if it doesn't pee down
* job search
* update contact list & ms s/s
* check for ms ops
* photo & list 7 things on fleabay
* water plants in greenhouse
* plant some salad & coriander seeds
* bath & facial this evening
* early night & book tonight
* put hot water in thermos after making a coffee
*[STRIKE] quick tidy up downstairs[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]tidied up our bedroom & vacuumed[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] put away a basket full of washing[/STRIKE] - am offically on top of my washing now! :shocked::whistle:_party_
awwwww just had a lovely fuzzy feeling - credit goes to Mrs F! :T Was reviewing my annoying things list and have decided this afternoon I will make dgd a rucksack for her packed lunch box & bits for the CM using fabric in stores. Will both tick something off of my list but also be good for lifting my spirits! :j Haven't done any sewing since dgd moved in with us 19 months agoDF as at 30/12/16

Hi everyone :hello:
Thanks for the kick off Ally :A
Ziggy - as others have said - feel free to vent at us any time you need to! You are always there for everyone and we are always here for you.
DNMS - you sewing machine wizard you - that rucksack sounds great. I've still not used the sewing machine my MIL gave me...
I hope it goes ok with your ds tonight.
Big love to everyone else :iloveyou:
Here's my go at staying positive and remembering the small things that are helping...
I'm working from home today :j It was sooooo good not having to fight the traffic this morning, pay for car parking etc. I can easily do my job from home but it's not technically allowed - just for exceptions so I will make the most of it today. :T
What else...
- Keeping the dog company - no dog walker needed
- Home office is the room with the hot water tank so it's nice and cosy here even if the rest of the house is cold
- Boiled the kettle and filled the flask for later
- Working hard with no distractions
(except for you lot
)
- Updated YNAB :dance:
- Free online nutrition course - it's great...and to think I was going to pay for one a while ago :T
- Made lasagne last night - whizzed up a can of sweetcorn in the blender and used that as a topping rather than white sauce/cheese sauce - you should try it - nice and sweet and goes a bit crunchy - also only about 17p a can
- Leftovers for tea tonight :T
- HM soup for lunch - red onion, garlic, ginger, sweet potato and kale. mmmm :A (trying to up my micronutrients y'see
)
- Listening to Prime music included with subscription
- Paid a couple of bills
- Need to do £3 survey in my inbox :A
- Bit more of a clear out is required - Toys/games are facing the KonMari treatment today. As a couple with no kids you'd be surprised how many we have!
Catch up soon everyone!0 -

I have another food question!!
I have some leftover plums, only around 5 or 6 and they won't get eaten (I don't like them when they are soft!) so wondered what I can do with them? Nothing that requires me 'buying' unique or other ingredients, looking for something where I am likely to have store cupboard ingredients. I know you have all been helpful in my mission to reduce food waste in my household!DMP Started June 20160 -

make a simple compot - little water, OJ and sugar and simmer in a pan on the hob. Use with porridge/yogurt/with pancakes, freeze in little pots to defrost when wanted

Morning all, :wave:
I fell asleep on the sofa this evening so now I'm wide awake.
Later we are going to get the ferry over to the Isle of Arran to a spa hotel for two nights. This was actually cheaper than getting a Travelodge-type-thing as it's out of season and I did a bit of haggling.
This is a bit of carefully budgeted for wish fulfilment. I lived within walking distance of the ferry to Arran for years and often went across but I've never spent a night on the island.
* Not taking car on ferry, thereby saving £25. The hotel are going to send a free minibus for us to transport us port-to-hotel.
* Have a hefty breakfast before leaving.
* Make use of inclusive access to two pools, sauna, steam room and solarium. Will not buy any spa treatments....as OH is a therapist. :rotfl:
* Take a packed lunch.
* Take running gear.
* Will improvise evening meals as this accommodation has no kitchen.
* Take own alcohol with us.
* Make use of free toilettries supplied.
What have you folks got lined up for today?
I have fond memories of holidaying on Arran as a child.
Which hotel are you staying at? Pm me if you'd prefer.
I'd love to go back. Such a beautiful place apart from the adder I saw climbing Goat Fell!0 -
Hi All
Just a quick check in as still in the hospital and wi find isn't free
Getting better slowly but it's been a bumpy road. Haven't really got any sleep since last Friday night so I'm starting to seriously flag. It is silly season in the hospitals and I am grateful for house room. So many have experienced a trolly in a corridor prior to a bed being found.
Determined - sounds like your son needs some TLC. Hope he's ok.
Ally- have a great holiday.
Ziggy- big hugs to you and I will catch up more on why later on.
Legomum- thanks for your thoughts.
Bye for now.
