Is it worth paying for Experian, Noddle, etc?

Options
I pay £15 per month for Experian for credit file, alerts, etc. Noddle offers a similar service for £45 for 12 months.

Is it worth changing? Is it worth having this type of service at all?

Thanks.

No. Just check your free or £2 reports when you need to.

Just sign up for the free service with Clearscore and Noddle
  • Not worth paying for any of them, Noddle and Clearscore are free and you can pay £2 for your statutory report from Experian. I paid for Credit Expert from Experian for months and for Noddle improve, and it didn't help me at all - Noddle kept telling me to take out credit cards to improve my "score" which was advice I could have got here for free and Experian didn't report my full history leading me to think my file was clear of issues when it wasn't.

    I cancelled both!

    Nae, nae and thrice nae.

Has anyone seen the advert on television with the tortoises who want to buy a house? The advert keeps blabbering on about credit scores and nurturing your credit score as though it's a tamagochi and somehow important, or even viewed by mortgage lenders.

Is that the one with the snails and people finding lots of scores everywhere such as in their loft? Edit: This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZNzYKe7dmY

Their previous 2 adverts were pulled for being misleading. I might report it to ASA :rotfl:

I was merging two adverts into one. There's the one you've linked to Candyapple with a bunch of morons tending to their credit scores which only (:rotfl:) cost them £14.99 a month. Then there's another advert where a tortoise wants to buy a house and just has to know her credit score (oh no she doesn't) but at least it's for a free service.

I signed up to ClearScore as its free. I fundamentally disagree with the principle of having to pay to know what my credit score is. I'm aware that it may not be as accurate as Experian, Equifax and CallCredit but I'm able to keep an eye on my credit file and make sure that nothing is being taken out in my name fraudulently and that I've not screwed up somewhere along the line.

Clearscore is your Equifax file for free just like Noddle is your Call Credit file. It's only Experian that don't offer a free service now.

Oooh, interesting. I didn't know that!
So, essentially Equifax and Experian have both a free service under a lesser known name and a paid for service under their well known name? Cheeky!

Err, you do realise that ClearScore is the free version of your Equifax report?

The same as Noddle is the free version of your Call Credit report.
