How to sell an old car?

I've always had great success selling cars by just sticking them in the front driveway with a For Sale sign and basic details in the windows.

Six months ago, I'd definitely have taken your suggestion but I now live in the sticks, at the end of a private lane. The only passing traffic is the postman and wildlife :)

I'll give the old girl a wash and spruce up and put an ad on Gumtree and see if there's any interest. I'll do my best to make her presentable but you know what they say about not being able to polish a turd :rotfl:

its old and ugly but is practical and someone who wants to convert it to take wheelchair passengers would find it very useful.

Its based on a van variant so that's a plus for anyone who wants to buy it for dual purpose.

Sounds right up your street, why not make him an offer.

If you are not under time pressure, I would try the free adverts first, then the paid ones.

Last time, I tried Gumtree first, not a single call. Autotrader, paid advert, online, got a call in one day, sold in three days. Two more straggler calls, too late.

Somebody will call you, they have ready buyers if you pay £50 registration fee. You need to prepare a comeback line beforehand.
Something like: "I'm selling tickets to view my car, how many buyers do you have? £50 a ticket, £200 for a book of five."
