Please. No need for an issue here. As a family we pay a small fortune per month for private medical insurance through BUPA. This is the first time we have ever claimed on the policy. The Hospital was a private hospital. At no time were NHS involved in this.0

If the relative had a bed in an NHS hospital it would have been on a private ward - nothing to do with PALS and certainly not to the detriment of an NHS patient. Let's not make an issue where one does not exist
Actually that's not true. NHS Hospitals do let consultants use their beds for private patients, usually where specialist nursing care/equipment is needed post op that can't be had at a cushy private hospital.
Its a source of income for the trust, but it inevitably means that bed is not available for an NHS patient also in need but waiting their turn. I suppose each private patient has to decide if they can make their peace with that, morally.0 -

And indeed the doctors who perform the operations.
I am a member of a private scheme and do try to go if possible to the "cushy" private hospital,;) but at the end of the day the consultant leads the decision. If he can live with it then I guess I can too.
I am not sure that this is the thread for such judgment though.0 -

Absolutely, and if one of them posted they'd be treated to my opinion o the matter too of course!0 -

I hope that the NHS hospital will have thought it through, and if they feel their NHS patients are better served by the bed space than by the hospital having the income they either wouldn't rent the bed out or would raise their charges until it is to their advantage. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Aren't you a nurse? I seem to remember you posting about going on a ward shift at 5am. I am sure if that is the case you have many opportunities to make your position clear. Do you do that to defend the principle?

That is the unfortunate position many trusts find themselves in. Shouldn't be the case though should it?0 -
Sorry, but this thread smells a bit. Seems deliberately provocative and incredibly naïve - who these days doesn't know alcohol/pork and Muslims don't go? Really?
Sorry OP, I'm not buying it.0 -
Definitely send a thank you card, apparently it helps with appraisals! As above, I'm wondering why you asked about champagne if you know most Muslims don't drink?! What's the point?0

If you want to do something a bit different to show you've made an effort, how about a tray of fancy dates? Dates are quite commonly associated with celebration in the Middle East https://oasisdate.com/store/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/t/r/treasure_tray.png
Or sweets http://freshwell.com.pk/s1.jpg
which will be an easy find in Asian areas eg Sparkbrook in Birmingham. Either will show a bit more consideration, too.
Something like this - depending on where you live, you may find0
