Refund for online course?

I was sold a course on "creating an income online", and was told at the time I would only need an investment of £100 to make it work, it was so easy and simple, only needed a few hours a day, and I would receive coaching to help. It turns out you need £20k, it is not at all easy, takes way more than a few hours a day and there is no coaching as such, you can just post questions online. I would like to get a refund but have a feeling they won't agree as it is past the 14 days. Do I have a case for small claims? Many thanks fo any advice.

  • I'm intrigued - a) it sounds like a typical scam style course, and b) do you have any other details about what exactly would cost 20k? Is it optional things? Assuming you started the course on Day 1, was it not possible to uncover the 20k costs until after day 14?

I have the original email sent saying you only need $100 and a few hours of your time. I have the lead video where he says he made £7k in 4 weeks, and I have a FB post where he then says you really need £20k, although others on fb say they have done it with less but it takes much, much longer. I bought the course in Dec, have been asking for access to the FB group since and only received it yesterday, whence I unconvered the remark about 20k. Unfortunately I have none of his guarantee in writing... :(

Are u supposed to be making money selling online courses?

I'd contact Watchdog etc but I'm afraid, don't hold your breath.

You could try Trading Standards, enclosing the original email, highlighting what the £100 would entitle you to.., and excerpts from the Facebook page detailing what you will get in reality. If there is a difference.

I was going to try to get a refund first but just in case they refuse (very likely) just wanted some feedback as to weather I could take them to small claims.

Is it worth it for $100? Very uncertain outcome. Then you would have to pay bailiffs/sheriffs to get the money if he doesn't pay up? Do you take him to court or his business or both?

Have you done searches on this man and his company?

$100 suggests you are not dealing with a UK based company, if so you have hope.

The course cost £2,500 (which is supposed to tell you how you need only $100 to invest.). If it was £100, I would cut my losses and put it up to experience. 2.5k is a bit harder to let go. The company is based in Peterborough but does trade in the US, thus the $. I did do a scam search on him beforehand but nothing came up. There are people making this work but they have invested a whole lot more than £100.
  • Oh my, it is true then that a fool and his money are easily parted.

I run a 'get your money back' course, for the bargain cost of £2000. Let me know if you are interested.

How do you know 'people are making it work'? Can you not see a scam in front of your nose? This same scam has been running for decades, the only difference now is that by taking it online it can be done globally with ease.
The fact that the pitch is not even converted from US English should tell you all you need to know.
