Virgin throttling?

Does Virgin throttle connections much during peak times? I'm noticing drastic reduction of speed. The net is almost unusable it's so slow. Very frustrating.
Speed test online shows ~87Mbps from my supposed 200Mbps connection. But in reality it's crawling.

yes, i;ve know it drop out completely in the evenings.0

The terms say only if you're a heavy user, I wouldn't put myself in that category. I'll never use more than 1 gig a day/night.0

how are you connecting to the modem?
This may sound obvious but if you're using wireless that can cause issues.
Also have you tried multiple speed test sites?
I can get wildly varying results from different sites (even different servers on the same site).0 -
If you're on our 30Mbps or above unlimited services you will only ever be traffic managed if you’ve been uploading a very large amount of data during peak times, and reached the limit set for your broadband tier.

I'm connected directly to the router (hard-wired). And I'm on unlimited on the 200Mbps 'vivid' connection. So in theory I reckon I should be flying along. Normal 24 hour period usage is well under 1Gb. Once in a blue moon it will be more.
It seems a little better at the moment, but still crawling a bit. And it's only me connected to the router atm (not streaming anything on Netflix or such). It may be misplaced to blame Virgin, but I have no real problems at other times (barring the odd Virgin outtage, but that's another matter).0 -
What you're possibly seeing is congestion. It's not that you're being throttled but the service is over subscribed in your area so the more people using the service the slower your connection will get. Like yourself I was on 152mb connection and regularly got 50mb during peak times.0
