Get another moto g or something else?
I have an original moto g 4g phone (the one without the horizontal line above or below the screen), which is a good phone. However, mine has an intermittent fault where the touch screen decides to go mad and its like someone is pressing the screen repeatedly, so it starts to call people and open windows on the screen or change settings etc. If I catch it quick and lock then unlock the phone it stops and goes back to normal. It happens a few times a day.
I am wondering whether to risk buying another sim free for £116 on amazon and sell mine as spares. Or to just buy a different phone. I only use the basics calls texts and occasional email/internet/maps but these aren't essential to me.
What do you recommend??

I got a new moto g last week to replace an original one (was still working but at nearly 2 years old i felt like a change). So far i'm very happy with it - a few differences in layout but nothing i can't get used to. Motorola Migrate shifted everything including texts across seamlessly.
I got mine for £89 from Vodafone (sale ends tonight!!!!) and got an unlock code off eBay for £1.65 which arrived in under 2 hours from being ordered.0 -
How old is it? Can you not get it repaired under warranty or SoGA?0

I've just checked on the imei warranty check site and its 1 year 3 months old so out of warranty...0

With modern apps, nothing less than 2gb of ram, they are some powerful processor phones on the market but with almost useless 1gb of ram.
On motoroloa the X play is good, really nice bright sharp screen as well.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
For your light usage it's absolutely fine, especially if you liked your current one.
Admittedly I just had a Moto G (3rd gen, 1GB RAM version) for a week and am trying - emphasis on trying - to get Vodafone to take it back for a refund. But I'm a heavy user and was experimenting with a lower end phone to see if I could get away with it. 1GB RAM is just not enough for the masses of work I throw at a mobile phone. But as you wouldn't have loads of things running, smartwatch connections etc like I do it'll be fine.
Definitely check the carriers since it can be so much cheaper buying locked and getting a £2 unlock code. If you get it from Vodafone just beware, you're too late to get it from a shop now on that offer obviously, and although they have a 14 day no quibble return policy, if it's bought online (even if you collected from the shop) you have to deal with India. I'm in my second attempt at getting it picked up now. They're incompetent at best. They're supposed to send a posting bag, but keep saying they'll "send someone round" and no-one turns up.0 -
the moto g 16GB 3rd gen (2Gb Ram) is a better bet but its hard to find cheap.
motorola Uk is looking £1790 -
yes smart ultra is terrific value. @ £115 plus +unlock code.
The only difference is the Moto G is water resistant and will be updated to Android Lollipop 60
