You got offended about a forum post directed at someone else and proceeded tomake a nasty comment about me. Thats not normal0 -

They wont necessarily accept it. Last year DH had the clever idea of creating a cloud folder just for receipts. In there was a receipt for some home phones from Tesco. They broke within 6 months so we took them back and were able to show the receipt on screen along with the bar code. I used to work in that particular store and knew the CS woman which was the only reason we were refunded. She told me that electronic receipts were not acceptable unless sent by Tesco themselves.0 -

I think the CS woman was wrong. Tesco's refund policy does not seem to distinguish between their own receipts and other ways of proving purchase. It would be difficult to dispute that a photo of the receipt, with all the information on the original receipt, constitutes proof of purchase (at least to the level of proof required by a civil court).
That said I agree with the op. I would not be happy if Tesco ripped a piece from a receipt they gave me. (I would have taken the matter to the service desk and would have followed up with a written complaint, if I was unhappy with the response given in the store.)0 -

It wasn't pointless, because it opened up the possibility of using other things (CC statement) as proof of purchase, thereby hopefully helping OP to recognise that.
Whether it was rude is debateable, especially on the internet, but I will openly admit that people can perceive it as rude! It is a bit frank, so I'm not going to complain about your comments in relation to that.
If you want to talk about reflecting on the purpose of this forum then maybe you shouldn't make vile posts of your own. Irrespective of what you think of me, you shouldn't be saying the things you said in your post. After all, I didn't imply that another user is a sociopath... I just can't believe how two-faced some people can be on here! It isn't ok for me to be a bit frank about an issue, but it is ok for you to say things like that.
EDIT: the people on here who don't like me simply ignore me for one of two reasons; either I'm correct but they don't like me, or they don't want to waste time and effort arguing against an internet random. Take heed. Ironically, the same applies to me and I will be heeding this advice on this thread
