    What a thoroughly pointless and rude post. The OP has a genuine issue, with receipts from a store and you sit there pontificating on how they insisted on what is their right to a proof of purchase and accuse them of wasting the time of store staff, who should have done their freakin' job properly in the first place. What are you even doing on these boards?

    I don't like people like you.... Dismiss my post as "pointless" and "rude" simply because it lists alternative methods of 'proof of purchase' in the ultimate hope that OP doesn't waste their time (and the employees' time) and risk the groceries defrosting in the future.

    The bottom line is that my post was 100x more useful than yours, irrespective of the tone behind it (though I admit that some people need mollycoddling when it comes to giving out advice). Report it if you don't like it, otherwise don't respond! I won't be offended if people don't respond to my "rude" and "pointless" posts ;)

    Maybe, going forward, OP will recognise the various POP methods and be able to get the frozen pizza back home in time when they next try and purchase a TV (Well done to OP for choosing to pay on CC as well!).

    I very much doubt if the OP is VAT registered, and even if she is it seems like a B2C transaction rather than a B2B.

    One very easy way to avoid having posts dismissed as being pointless and rude, is to not post anything that is pointless and rude.

    Blaming the OP for demanding that he gets a receipt (something he is perfectly entitled to insist upon), was dismissive and rude. Your attitude towards him, when he came here for some friendly advice, was patronising, at best.

    By being so arrogant, as to assume that expecting respect and politeness, is somehow "mollycoddling" someone who is new to this forum, is beyond rudeness and bordering on the sociopathic. You may know an awful lot more than the OP, but there is no need to be so high and mighty about it.

    I didn't miss it, it was poorly worded. Perhaps some punctuation wouldn't have gone amiss. Nonetheless, that doesn't detract from the fact that the consumer is perfectly within their rights to insist upon a receipt.

    If the retailer's rule is that there are no refunds, returns or repairs, unless a proof of purchase is provided, it is incumbent upon that retailer to provide that proof (whether or not legally obliged) at the point of purchase.
  • One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that unless the TV was a Tesco own make, a receipt will probably be required should a claim on the manufacturers warranty be needed in the future.

    It is proof of A purchase. It is however completely reliant on the retailer going through their records to to demonstrate it is proof of THE purchase.

    It's most certainly not a case of "just need to show the bank statement" two or three years down the line.
