Hi, I have zafira auto 2002 petrol that I bought a month ago. when cold start, the engine revs up and down for half a minute and then settles down, also with grumble noise and knocking sound. After start it runs fine. No problem when starting warm/hot. Few days ago the engine management light turned on on the motorway. It went off after few day when I put super petrol. But its back again. The car has constant cold start problem. Please help.0

You can read the fault code yourself.
Hold down the brake and accelerator. and turn the key to the ignition position. The engine light will flash. Count the flashes.
It's a sequence of 4, so if the first number is 0 ten flashes, (if it's a 1, 1 flash) pause, x flashes, pause, x flashes, pause, x flashes.
If it has more than one code stored it will do it again, until it gets to the end. If you miss then, turn the ignition back off and on, and do it again.
Post the results back up.0 -
Hi, I tried to read the code, but on my car the lights dont flash on dashboard at all, when turning the key to ignition point while brake and race fully pressed.0

hi all
i have read all the pages on here but throught i would post this
i have a vauxhall zafira 1.6 05 plate
the car started to have problems about 8 weeks ago it started pulling , low power, engine mangerment lite comes on some times it stays on other times it flashes not idleing
we notied that this would only happen if we run the car then stop and it cools down a bit for about 20 min go back and start her and the problem starts, we can feel the pulling and jumping as soon as we turn it on.
the fault codes that come up is misfire on cylinder 2 P0300 and P0302 we have changed the coil pack twice, plugs twice, cam sensor, crank shaft sensor, temp sensor, cleaned the injectors, cleaned every other sensor we would think off replaced the throtal body hosuing, we put fuel additive to clean the engine, she doesnt like running above 40mph
PLEASE HELP spent a lot of money so far and really cant afford much more
any help would be greatfully recieved0 -

I read earlier about turning the ignition on and off 40 times in quick succession. I've just tried it and it worked! Our warning light has been on for about 3 weeks. It remains to be seen how long it will now stay off for. I think it came on when our son (who is learning tomdrive) flooded the engine.0

There are 2 lights, engine management and emmisions (the engine light is the car with a spanner through it)
Engine management can be reset by turning the ignition on and off 40 times, if it keeps coming back on you have a problem, get it looked at.
Emmisions light codes can be read by the old brake/accelerator pressed and turn the ignition on (all lights will flash on then off after which the emmisions light will flash 0ne or more 4 digit codes (10 flashes, pause, 1 flash, pause, 7 flashes, pause, 10 flashes, pause is 0170)), this will usually be on because of a broken sensor and/or some dodgy emmisions reading. I had a lamda sensor pack in causing a whole series of codes, got a private garage to read/fix and reset for a fraction of the cost of a main dealer (they will demand £40 just to read the codes you already know because you used the pedals trick above). This light can only be reset by a garage (or apparantly disconnecting the battery for a period of time). Again if it comes back on something is wrong. That said the car will normally revert to a default setting and you may not even notice a change in performance or economy.
If in doubt get it looked at, you may well want to drive straight past the main dealers and find a good local mechanic though.0
