What were your exact words?
"Make a personal injury claim" in reply to someone asking how to recover their uninsured losses, losses that were not injury related.0 -
If you specifically asked about the leak in the boot and he said it didn't have a leak when it does, that is naughty. The problem is what can you do about it now and it is just your word against his.
Did you record the conversation? I suspect not.
You can take him to court if you like and claim back whatever it costs to put the car right but you are by no means guaranteed to win and the costs could be far more than the repairs.
Don't look at cars when it's dark and or raining and make sure you give a thorough inspection - the boot being "full of stuff" would set alarm bells ringing.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -

I have a recorder app on my phone and when I was talking to my brother on the phone the guy can be heard to say it's condensation and in response to me saying "I don't think it's condensation, I think it could be a little leak or something..." "There's no leak, no leak" and something like "it's all bone dry".
Something unrelated is that he had a private plate on the car, we filled in the forms and they were to be sent of on Monday. I got my insurance under his private plate and I'm wondering when the plate number may change over on the system or it there's a way to check as having the wrong plates on may get me pulled over, also I'll need to let my insurance company know too. I haven't spoke to the guy yet as I imagined there's not but point but he's messaged me to ask if I could send him his plates back, I'm not sure if I should?0 -

Do you even have the original plates? I think you're best off waiting until you get everything sorted with the DVLA.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

Yes he gave me the original plates, I'm not sure when I need to switch them over though as I imagine the DVLA will switch it over and then it may take a few days or more for them to send me the new V5 with the new/old reg.
Somebody mentioned something about flooding that's something I never considered at all. Today I dried the spare wheel well out and it didn't seem to have any extra water in it.0 -
If he sent the V5C to Swansea before taking the plate off the car, then you've at least got a free plate out of it.Something unrelated is that he had a private plate on the car, we filled in the forms and they were to be sent of on Monday. I dried the boot well out and checked it during the week, seemed a very small drip of water in there. If the leak is that slow it must have took weeks or months to build up the water in there. Somebody mentioned the floods is there anything else that would indicate it may have been?
I'm still waiting for the V5, the seller contacted me earlier in the week by text and said we filled in the forms wrong and that he will sort it and the log book should be with me in 3 - 5 days, still waiting.0
