O/S Daily Monday 1 February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still dark, drying up under foot, not raining or windy here at the moment – forecast says different for later in the day.
Lunch yesterday was a late one, but we got back from being away and I shoved the cook from frozen chicken joint straight in the oven and then sorted the bags, prepped the veg etc, did the pack ups then we ate and chilled for the rest of the afternoon. The weekend away was great – company was good as was the food and entertainment. Wasn’t a very pleasant journey there on Friday though – the wind was awful and DH wasn’t happy as the wind makes towing stressful – but luckily it wasn’t very far away and once we were on site you couldn’t tell there was any wind. We had a ride to a couple of shopping outlets on Saturday morning stopped and had a coffee at one then went back to get ready for the dinner on Saturday night.
Back to work for me today – see what this week brings.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning NMLC and all who follow . Glad you enjoyed your break Your husband is brave towing a caravan in high wind , i'd be a nervous wreck .
Still very dark here , the wind has died down but is forecast for later .
I have had two hours sleep . I didn't get to sleep until after one and woke just after three - really annoying . I think I overdid the catching up over the last few days and am feeling it in the joints and muscles .
Food today will be quick and easy . If I feel up to it later Henry may get a trip around the house .
Take care all . Keep warm where possible and good luck weatherwise .
To clarify I mean Henry Le Vac not Henry the storm - He can stay away !

Morning all
Off to work , did my usual don't sleep on a Sunday night thing
The wind sounds awful keep safe everyone
I made meatballs with tomato sauce and pasta for tea last night, only the recipe I used was for ketchup not pasta sauce. I now have a years supply of ketchup
Right off I go , have a lovely day everyone xx0 -
Morning all. Hope the poorlies are feeling a little better. We are all in need of warm sunshine I think. We've had the wind howling all night and it's to get worse apparently when Henry gets here. 70 mph for us but up to 90 mph for Scotland - stay safe GERS and CAMELOT.
Mr TA has his last blood test this morning before his Liverpool appt. I usually go down with him and have a wander round town whilst he is waiting. Might just stay put today though! Will think about it!
I tidied the freezers out AGAIN yesterday (brrr flipping cold in that garage) so, once again, I can see what's what without a big rummage. I think I'll get some chicken thighs out to defrost shortly and make a chicken curry for tea. There's a pack of bacon in the fridge nearing it's date so that will be lunch with eggs and fried up potatoes I think.
Have a good day all and stay safe in the gales. (((HUGS))) to those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
SISTERCAS - Nowt wrong with a years supply of ketchup , very mse
TA - If you go out today you may need your concrete wellies .

I'm off to work in a sec, hubby has a cuppa, he's not at work today as he's working Saturday.
No school run today either so a lazy start for me.
I did nothing over the weekend as I felt so rough, still the housework is still waiting for me when I feel better.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
Wild out there this morning. Didn't sleep too well, not sure why but the alarm woke me this morning just when I was feeling tired!
DD came from work last night, walked in the door and burst into tears. That's her shop closed now and she has said goodbye to her colleagues. I know she will see them again but they wont work together, quite emotional.
Anyway, we had Thai green curry for tea which was yummy, made even better by my having invested in an electric rice cooker (£14.99 from Ald!). Have to say it's pretty good as I find cooking rice so stressful - the pan boils over and I have to watch it like a hawk or it gets overcooked. It also has a steamer basket so will check that out soon.
Visited a friend up country yesterday afternoon to deliver their Christmas presents (I know I'm a bit late). Good to catch up but the roads were awful, standing water and potholes don't make a pleasant journey.
Off to work today, let's see how many parents keep their children home again because it's windy!
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Wind been whistling through the bedroom window again last night, does not make for a good sleep, lets hops its not too bad today.
I am on a Makaton course today, I have been booked on for over a year and really looking forward to it, I have another day next week some time. Also the course is in the town where dd goes to uni, so I can drop her off on the way, she is going in to do some work on her dissertation.
There is a little bit of lamb left over from yesterday for dinner and I got some sausages out too, there are a few roasties and I will do a bot of mash too and some cabbage.
Camelot I know just how your DD is feeling, I felt the same after being made redundant, there is life after it though jut takes a while to adjust, big hug xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, hope everyone will be safe today with yet more high winds. Very blowy here but as nothing to what it must be like in more exposed areas.
I went out yesterday, first time in several days I have been resting a very achy knee and now it is nearly as bad as before so am grumpy.
Slept a little better though, did not get up until 4, have drunk vast quantity of tea, mopped the kitchen floor a sort of hop and mop - and now carrying on with my second set of mini animals. Another brown bear done this morning and will make some cubs in a bit.
Am dreading going back to work, this is meant to be a relaxing break but somehow isn't.
Camelot, that must be so upsetting for your DO, to lose your workmates is difficult.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all.
Didnt hear the men go to work this morning. I'm so glad it's Monday.
Onwards and forwards

Good morning everyone
The wind has died down for a bit here finally but it was a rough night both outside and inside. I spent quite a few hours up with that wretched face ache again. I am going to have to see a dentist I think as I can't keep popping painkillers.
Unfortunately I feel like a wrung out dishcloth this morning and I have my CMHT lady coming to take me out somewhere, I think I will ask to go to the seaside as the fresh air will be nice although to be honest I would quite like to go back to bed. Oh well, I am fortunate that I can have a nanna nap this afternoon.
Tea will be chicken curry with the leftover chicken from yesterday. I always make a hot one and a mild one as the 2 youngest can't cope with spicy food. I have poppadums to go with it for a change. Other than that the house was cleaned over the weekend so there is little to do apart from a load of washing which I've already put on.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing, take care xx0
