  • Spirit mentioned orange syrup from the baby clinic.....OMG, I use to LOVE that stuff. Tried to get it for my daughter when she was a baby but they'd stopped doing it. You could buy an imitation of it from Boots but it just wasn't the same.

Cod liver oil from the clinic - EUGHHHHHHHHHH

Rosehip syrup from the clinic - YUM YUM

Soft boiled egg chopped up in a cup with salt/pepper and loads of butter as a little treat if we were feeling poorly. Lucozade in the cellphone wrapper if we were REALLY ill!

Hula hoops (the toy, not the crisps) - there was a real craze for this where we lived....and my daft dad coming out in the street to have a go with all us kids.....and being really good at it too!

Long bike rides with a picnic consisting of a bottle of water and a few biscuits, and thinking we were rich beyond measure.

Playing out all day in the summer, and summer lasting for months, if not years!

Chips from the chippy were a special treat, we very rarely could afford fish with it, but chips and peas and a plate of bread and butter was posh nosh!

Mum and Dad doing without meat on their plates so that we kids could have some.......uh oh, here we go again, I love this thread but always end up getting emotional when I start remembering my dear Mum and Dad.....wish they were here so I could thank them for a wonderful childhood!!

Right, that's it, I'm off before I start snivelling again
